PURPOSE: To study the clinical and microbiological profile of Serratia corneal ulcers at the Cornea Service of the Wills Eye Hospital.
METHODS: This was a retrospective, observational case series. The clinical records of patients with Serratia marcescens corneal ulcers seen at the Cornea Service of the Wills Eye Hospital between January 1, 1998 and December 31, 2002 were reviewed.

AIM: The aim of our study was to determine the prevalence of psoriatic arthritis in the patients with psoriasis and to analyze retrospectively the results of a 34-year multidisciplinary management of the patients with psoriatic arthritis.

In this retrospective study, 140 serum samples collected from 85 scrub typhus-negative patients in Kinmen Island in 2000 were tested for antibodies to hantavirus using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. BACKGROUND: There are four key studies in the periodontology literature reporting the correlation between supernumerary teeth and aggressive periodontitis. The aim of this study is to detect such a relationship.
METHODS: Patients with supernumerary teeth were identified retrospectively from their orthopantomographs and were invited to the periodontology department for intraoral examination. The purpose of this study is to retrospectively evaluate 18 consecutive cases of peritalar dislocations referred to our department during a period of 25 years and to delineate the factors influencing long-term prognosis. There were 13 (73%) medial and 5 (27%) lateral dislocations. Six patients (33%) suffered an open injury, including 2 of 13 (15%) medial and 4 of 5 (80%) lateral dislocations. Between 1990 and 1996 we have operated 134 patients with otosclerosis. 91 were female and 43 male with 42 years average. We report a retrospective study and collect a string of clinical preoperative variables analysing the kind of surgery performed with the findings and most relevant technical difficulties, complications and hearing improvement obtained just after the operation and one month later. Stapedectomy or stapedotomy have given good results in our serie with significant hearing recuperation on more than 90% of the cases well selected and operated by first time.

OBJECTIVES: The management of patients with presumed cerebral venous thrombosis has been recently modified by magnetic resonance imaging and evidence that the early use of heparin decreases mortality and morbidity. Long term outcome of patients with cerebral venous thrombosis (CVT) has rarely been described. We present the results of a follow-up study.

This retrospective study reviews our experience in the management of acute otomastoiditis over 10 years. During the study period we identified 40 cases in children aged 3 months-15 years with a peak incidence in the second year of life. Sixty per cent of them had a history of acute otitis media (AOM). BACKGROUND: We studied all intraosseous infusions performed between 1994 and 1997 by the pediatric intensive care unit and by the pre-hospital emergency medical staff in the Hôpital d'Enfants, Toulouse, France.

PURPOSE: Whether congenital or acquired, unilateral or bilateral, ptosis is due to deficiency of levator muscle of the upper eyelid and comprises one of the most prevalent defects of palpebral pathology.
