UNLABELLED: Primary anorectal melanoma is an extremely rare malignancy of the gastrointestinal tract with a very poor prognosis. Due to the late presentation, most patients with primary anorectal melanoma are diagnosed at advanced stages. Scleroderma is an autoimmune disease characterized by fibrosis of the skin and visceral organs. There is an increased risk of developing cancer in scleroderma patients.
CASE PRESENTATION: A 57-year-old Syrian female diagnosed with localized scleroderma complained of a sensation of a mass in her anal area. She was diagnosed with primary rectal melanoma and wa

Morphea, or localized scleroderma, is an inflammatory disease that leads to sclerosis of the skin and underlying tissues due to excessive collagen deposition. Oral involvement is unusual and it may produce white linear fibrotic areas with a scar-like appearance, atrophy of tongue papillae, gingival recession and alveolar bone resorption. We report a case of a 13-year-old girl who consulted for progressive recession on the attached gingiva of her upper left incisors. She also presented a hypopigmented line on the left side skin of her upper lip, which continued through the vermilion and the lip

BACKGROUND: Linear scleroderma is a fibrotic disease affecting the skin and sometimes the deeper tissues. We describe a case of scleroderma associated with neurological anomalies not previously reported in the literature.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: A 16-year-old male patient presented in 2009 for hemifacial linear scleroderma. Treatment with methotrexate for 14 months resulted in stabilization of the disease. In 2013, we noted worsening of the patient's skin lesions as well as homolateral ptosis. Head MRI revealed unilateral hemispherical signal abnormalities with T2 hypersignal in the basal gangl

INTRODUCTION: Other than discreet infra-clinical mucinous deposits observed during many inflammatory dermatoses, clinically visible dermal mucinosis can sometimes be associated with collagenosis. It is usually lupus and very rarely scleroderma. In this case, no confusion with papular mucinosis must be made.
CASE REPORT: A 51 year-old woman presented with infiltrated erythematous lesions in strips on the inner sides of the thighs and legs, associated with myalgia, arthralgia and puffy fingers. Mixed connective tissue disease was the initial diagnosis. The clinical picture was rapidly completed

On the basis of clinical features and histological findings, cutaneous manifestations of linear melorheostotic scleroderma are apparently derived from a localized proliferative disorder and are not secondary to bone changes. If the hypertrichosis has the same origin as the osteocutaneous changes, melorheostosis may represent a congenital disorder with both ectodermic and mesodermic components.

Systemic Sclerosis is a multisystemic disease characterized by sclerosis of the skin and visceral organs, vasculopathy (Raynaud's phenomenon) and autoantibodies. The criteria for the classification of the disease requires either proximal scleroderma (major criteria) or the presence of 2 of the 3 minor features namely sclerodactyly, digital pitting scars and bibasilar pulmonary fibrosis. There are 3 subsets of this condition--diffuse variant, limited variant (CREST syndrome) and Overlap Syndrome (where patients have features of other rheumatic diseases). There are localized forms of scleroderma

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the relationship of progressive facial hemiatrophy (PFH) and scleroderma en coup de sabre by establishing the presence and type of central nervous system (CNS) involvement in both diseases and the possible coexistence of PFH with scleroderma in other body sites.
METHODS: We divided 19 cases of PFH into 2 groups: group 1 in which atrophies were preceded by cutaneous indurations (n = 10) and group 2 with no precedent indurations (n = 9). The third group consisted of 7 cases of scleroderma en coup de sabre with no PFH features. Clinical and laboratory investigations inc

Scleroderma (systemic sclerosis) is an autoimmune rheumatic disorder that is characterized by fibrosis, vascular dysfunction, and autoantibody production that involves most visceral organs. It is characterized by a high morbidity and mortality rate, mainly due to disease-related complications. Epidemiological data describing mortality and survival in this population have been based on both population and observational studies. Multiple clinical and non-clinical factors have been found to predict higher likelihood of death among thepatients. Here, we do an extensive review of the available lite

BACKGROUND: Linear scleroderma is a rare connective tissue disease characterized by thickening of the skin due to excess collagen deposit. It is the most frequent type of localized scleroderma in the pediatric population (40%-70%), and it usually affects the extremities and head. Linear scleroderma can cause growth disturbances, extremity length discrepancy, and debilitating joint contractures. The aim of this study was to describe the surgical outcomes of microsurgical flap reconstruction of linear scleroderma in the pediatric population.
METHODS: A retrospective review of all children with

Scleroderma is a family of systemic and local diseases that tighten and harden the skin and other connective tissues. Local scleroderma (i.e., morphea) typically involves the skin and underlying tissue causing progressive functional and cosmetic disturbances. While the etiology of scleroderma is unknown, it is correlated with autoimmune dysfunction. Linear morphea is a disorder that primarily affects children. This report describes the case of a nine-year-old girl with skin eruptions in the forehead, near the left eye, and in the anterior neck in addition to an underlying focal hemispheric fro

Juvenile systemic sclerosis (jSSc) is a rare multisystem autoimmune disease, representing 4-10 % of systemic sclerosis (SSc) cases, and causes significant morbidity during growth and development. While sharing features with adult-onset disease, jSSc differs in phenotype, with more frequent diffuse cutaneous involvement, overlap syndromes, distinct autoantibody profiles and different outcomes. Evidence to guide care remains limited because of disease rarity and the lack of paediatric trials. This review summarises epidemiology, classification, clinical features and outcomes of jSSc, highlightin
