BACKGROUND: The mechanism by which duct decompression (DD) relieves pain in patients with chronic pancreatitis (CP) is unknown. CP is associated with increased tissue pressure (IP), low pancreatic microvascular blood flow (PMBF), and interstitial pH (pH(I)).
