Thriving in the wake of a storm: A systematic qualitative review & meta-synthesis on facilitating post-traumatic growth in patients living with Acquired Brain Injury.

Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) often results in significant challenges, yet it may also facilitate Post-Traumatic Growth (PTG). This review explores a critical question: "What are the main factors contributing to PTG following ABI, and what potential barriers to its development are perceived by ABI survivors?" Here we aim to systematically uncover these contributors and barriers to PTG through a meta-synthesis, involving a comprehensive review of previously published qualitative research on this topic. A literature search was conducted across PsycINFO, CINAHL, and MEDLINE up to December 2022 to i

eHealthism in inclusion health: a qualitative longitudinal study with women experiencing homelessness.

BACKGROUND: While inclusion health approaches are increasingly recognised in research, policy, and practice as essential to addressing health inequities and social exclusion, there is limited understanding of how women experiencing homelessness engage with digital health. This represents a salient knowledge gap, given the growing interest in digital health to improve access, flexibility, and patient empowerment for marginalised populations. This study aimed to explore: (1) how women experiencing homelessness access and use digital technologies to support their health and wellbeing in everyday

[Poverty, social exclusion, social capital and health].

Social capital is the social structure which facilitates the actions of individuals, stimulates production and allows for success. Poverty maintains basic needs unmet (food, health, autonomy) over time and unvoluntarily. Social exclusion does not allow individuals to participate in society. The following dimensions are assessed: financial poverty, social inclusion, employment, health and education. Social participation, work integration, empowerment, self-esteem, and personal achievement should be promoted. In Europe 15% of people is exposed to poverty; in Spain corresponding figures are 13.4%…

Assessing Aspects of Social Relationships in Youth Across Middle Childhood and Adolescence: The NIH Toolbox Pediatric Social Relationship Scales.

OBJECTIVE: Social relationships are a critical context for children's socioemotional development and their quality is closely linked with concurrent and future physical and emotional wellbeing. However, brief self-report measures of social relationship quality that translate across middle childhood, adolescence, and adulthood are lacking, limiting the ability to assess the impact of social relationships on health outcomes over time. To address this gap, this article describes the development and testing of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Toolbox Pediatric Social Relationship Scales, wh

Social exclusion modulates event-related frontal theta and tracks ostracism distress in children.

Social exclusion is a potent elicitor of distress. Previous studies have shown that medial frontal theta oscillations are modulated by the experience of social exclusion. Using the Cyberball paradigm, we examined event-related dynamics of theta power in the EEG at medial frontal sites while children aged 8-12 years were exposed to conditions of fair play and social exclusion. Using an event-related design, we found that medial frontal theta oscillations (4-8Hz) increase during both early (i.e., 200-400ms) and late (i.e., 400-800ms) processing of rejection events during social exclusion relativ

Non-suicidal self-injury and digital ostracism: a novel smartphone-based paradigm capturing real-time responses to social media exclusion.

BACKGROUND: Ostracism on social media is a common and emotionally salient stressor. However, its moment-to-moment psychological and behavioral consequences, remain poorly understood in individuals with Non-Suicidal Self-Injury (NSSI) and Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). METHODS: Using an Instagram-mimicking smartphone platform (Socializapp) coupled with Ecological Momentary Assessment (EMA), we examined responses to experimentally manipulated peer feedback across 7 days in three groups: healthy Controls (HC; n = 20), NSSI without BPD (NSSI; n = 18), and comorbid BPD+NSSI (n = 17). Neuroimaging Meta-Analyses Reveal Convergence of Interoception, Emotion, and Social Cognition Across Neurodegenerative Diseases.

BACKGROUND: Simultaneous interoceptive, emotional, and social cognition deficits are observed across neurodegenerative diseases. Indirect evidence suggests shared neurobiological bases underlying these impairments, termed the allostatic-interoceptive network (AIN). However, no study has yet explored the convergence of these deficits in neurodegenerative diseases or examined how structural and functional changes contribute to cross-domain impairments. METHODS: A Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) activated likelihood estimate meta-analysis encompassed s
