Health impact bonds (HIBs) are an innovative outcome-based financing model increasingly applied in public health programs. This study aimed to comprehensively summarize their applications, benefits, and challenges in health prevention programs. In this scoping, 31 peer-reviewed papers and 19 websites were eligible for inclusion. Key characteristics of the programs were extracted, including details of the interventions, health and financial outcomes, and stakeholders' involvement. We identified 23 HIB programs across 13 countries, with durations ranging from 2 to 7.5 years. These programs targe

BACKGROUND: Cerebral palsy (CP) disproportionately affects children in low- and middle-income countries, where stigma and discrimination lead to marginalization and reduced participation. To design culturally appropriate community-based health promotion strategies that can address these challenges, the role of community stakeholders is crucial, yet unstudied in rural sub-Saharan Africa. This study aimed to explore stakeholders' perceptions, beliefs and attitudes towards children with CP and their caregivers in rural Malawi.
METHODS: A qualitative study using semistructured focus group discuss

Rare neurological conditions (RNCs) encompass a variety of diseases that differ in progression and symptoms but typically include muscle weakness, sensory and balance impairment and difficulty with coordinating voluntary movement. This can limit overall physical activity, so interventions to address this are recommended. The aim of this study was to agree a core outcome measurement set for physical activity interventions in people living with RNCs. We followed established guidelines to develop core outcome sets. Broad ranging discussions in a series of stakeholder workshops led to the consensu

BACKGROUND: Comprehensive Sexuality Education is crucial for equipping young people with the knowledge and skills necessary to make informed decisions about their sexual health and well-being. We explored stakeholders' perspectives on Comprehensive Sexuality Education in Sierra Leone through a critical theory lens, emphasising the power structures, economic conditions, and cultural norms that shape educational realities. Specifically, we asked how power relations, gender norms, economic vulnerability, and institutional authority shape stakeholders' perceptions and implementation of Comprehensi

BACKGROUND: Simulated patients (SPs) are widely used in medical education to help students acquire clinical skills in a safe and realistic setting. In fields such as obstetrics and gynaecology (OB-GYN), where real-patient interactions can be limited due to cultural sensitivities-especially in Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries-SPs play a crucial role in medical education. This study aimed to validate the training of SPs for assessing OB-GYN history-taking skills and explore the perceptions of stakeholders - including faculty, students, leadership and SPs - regarding the implementation, c

BACKGROUND: Adolescents with congenital heart disease (CHD) face substantial challenges during the transition from pediatric to adult care. The STEPSTONES transition program is a person-centered, evidence-based intervention designed to support this transition, and has shown efficacy in improving patient empowerment and disease-related knowledge. However, implementing complex health interventions like the STEPSTONES transition program in real-world settings remains difficult. This study aimed to explore the barriers and facilitators to implementing the STEPSTONES transition program in Swedish p

Taenia solium taeniasis/cysticercosis in humans and pigs remains endemic to Uganda. Although, looking at the lifecycle of the parasite, the risk factors are well known, and many biomedical control options exist - no substantial progress has been made in the eradication of T. solium infections in Uganda to date. Contextual factors including socioeconomic, cultural and infrastructural factors, may influence the adoption of interventions. A community-based study using mixed methods and relying on system effects modelling approach was carried out between March and April 2021 in Kamuli district, Ea

BACKGROUND: There has been a heightened emphasis on prioritizing data to inform evidence-based HIV responses, including data focused on both defining the content and scale of HIV programs in response to evidence-based need. Consequently, population size estimation (PSE) studies for key populations have become increasingly common to define the necessary scale of specific programs for key populations. This study aims to assess the research utilization of these size estimates in informing HIV policy and program documents across the African continent.

BACKGROUND: Antipsychotic medications are used among 19%-58% of adults with intellectual disabilities to manage challenging behaviour against the NICE guideline recommendations. Studies show that it is possible to completely withdraw antipsychotics in about one third of adults with intellectual disabilities and a dose reduction of 50% or more in another third.
METHOD: In Cornwall, over three years the present authors developed a structured pathway to withdraw antipsychotics among adults with intellectual disabilities which involved people with intellectual disabilities and their carers, GPs,

OBJECTIVE: The objective of this study was to develop a Hirschsprung's disease (HD) core outcome set (COS).
METHODS: Candidate outcomes were identified from a systematic review and stakeholder nomination. A three-phase Delphi process and consensus meeting were used to prioritise candidate outcomes based on scores assigned by stakeholder participants using a nine-point scale. In phases two and three, participants were shown graphical representations of their panel's scores and all panels' scores respectively for each outcome from the previous phase. After the third phase, outcomes prioritised

Social norms, institutional weaknesses, and gaps between policy commitments and implementation in Malawi continue to pose significant barriers to adolescents' realisation of their sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). Early marriage, gender-based violence, and limited access to contraception and comprehensive sexuality education (CSE) undermine adolescents' wellbeing and future opportunities. This qualitative study examines how actor interests, institutional arrangements, and normative contexts shape the delivery of and access to adolescent-friendly health and education services in

BACKGROUND: Reducing maternal, newborn and child mortality remains one of the top global public health priorities. Each year, approximately 303,000 mothers, globally, die during delivery. Stillbirths and neonatal deaths within the first 28 days of life are estimated at 2.6 million and 2.7 million, respectively. Rural residents face challenges in accessing health care due to difficulties in transportation. Given the voucher-based transport's potential to address inaccessibility to health services, this study explored the health stakeholders' perspectives on the benefits and challenges of this i

INTRODUCTION: Silver diamine fluoride (SDF) is an effective cariostatic agent that has reemerged globally in recent years. Its resurgence is timely as dental caries remains prevalent, necessitating an affordable and simple treatment option. Its implementation in Australia has been slow, with inconsistent views on its use among practitioners, but is likely imminent given the recent global uptake. There is currently no literature examining Australian dental stakeholder views on SDF's implementation.
OBJECTIVES: This study aims to investigate Australian dental stakeholder views on the use of SDF
