Clinically apparent hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection developed in a prison inmate after two tattooing episodes within the recognised incubation period for HCV infection. Seroconversion and HCV viraemia with subsequent resolution of hepatitis and loss of plasma viraemia were documented. Introducing licensed tattooists, and thereby improving infection control practices, may reduce the risk of hepatitis C virus infection in prisons.

We report the case of a 39-year-old man who was admitted for evaluation of enlarged lymph nodes. A lymph node biopsy showed CD68- and 1α-hydroxylase-positive non-caseating epithelioid granuloma. Since ancient era, tattooing has been very popular, but in the recent times, it has been perceived as a form of art and is quite popular for cosmetic purposes. During the COVID pandemic, while most businesses were struggling, the tattoo industry flourished. This in turn led to an increase in tattooing practices causing a surge in tattoo site complications as well.
