Malignant tumors in the tonsils are usually primary. Metastases to the tonsils are extremely rare, with nearly one hundred cases reported. Herein we present an unusual case of palatine tonsillar metastasis of non-small cell lung cancer during chemotherapy. The patient was a 39-year-old man who was diagnosed as non-small lung cancer with IIIA4 staging and poor differentiated histology. Paraneoplastic acrokeratosis, or Bazex syndrome, is a rare, distinct dermatosis characterized by psoriasiform acral hyperkeratosis. In most cases, it is a specific cutaneous sign of an occult squamous cell carcinoma of the upper aerodigestive tract that has metastasized to cervical lymph nodes. The histological diagnostics of 13 patients with epithelisma of tonsils, tongue base and hypopharynx were examined before and after radiation with 2000 cGy telecobalt 60 with a planimetric method. PURPOSE: Tonsillectomy is indicated in unilateral tonsillar enlargement (UTE) to rule out malignancy, which eventually is found in about 1.4% of the patients. The aim of this study was to evaluate the presenting symptoms of patients who underwent tonsillectomy for UTE and identify parameters that are associated with an increased risk for malignancy, for better assessment and refinement of current management protocols.

Follicular dendritic cell sarcoma (FDCS) is an uncommon tumour within the spectrum of histiocytic and dendritic cell neoplasms that can occur at nodal and extra-nodal sites. Here authors present a rare case of actinomycosis of the pallatinal tonsilla, which had a form of tumor. Bacteriological tests revealed only some saprophytical bacteria in pharynx. After surgical treatment of disease was done, patient got back to health quickly, and histopathological exam showed that this was actinomycosis.

We present a case of an angiocentric T-cell lymphoma (ACTL) occurring in a 31-year-old woman with the Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS). This patient had oropharyngeal pain, a non-healing superficially ulcerated right tonsil, and no obvious tumor mass. Cyclosporin A has been associated with an apparent increased incidence of non Hodgkins lymphoma, most often in conjunction with multiple immunosuppressive agents. We report a patient who developed a non Hodgkins lymphoma arising in the right tonsillar fossa six months following renal transplantation. The development of the lymphoma was associated with seroconversion for the Epstein Barr capsid antigen and nuclear antigen. The patient was receiving cyclosporin A alone as immunosuppression.
