Nonintestinal sinonasal adenocarcinomas (SNACs) are somewhat poorly characterized and high-grade nonintestinal SNACs have been only rarely reported. Here, we review our experience with these tumors. Twenty-seven cases of high-grade nonintestinal SNACs were identified from 22 men and 5 women. Ages ranged from 22 to 83 years (mean±1 standard deviation=54.7±18.6 y; median=60 y). OBJECTIVE: To compare perioperative and early postoperative complication rates of performing open septorhinoplasty (OSR) and functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS) concomitantly or individually.
STUDY DESIGN AND SETTING: Retrospective chart review of 55 patients treated at an academic referral center who had undergone combined OSR and FESS. Complication rates for the combined procedures were compared with published complication rates for the individual procedures.

"Hot potato voice" is a characteristic sign of peritonsillar abscess and peritonsillitis. Our findings show that the hot potato voice is the result of an underlying transient velopharyngeal insufficiency combined with muffled oral resonance. The etiologic profile and state of the immune system of the patients with different forms of sinusitis treated at the Moscow Research Institute of the Ear, Throat and Nose in 1983-1985 were studied. The treatment of the patients with a combination of penicillin and dimexide was shown to be efficient. Differences between the humoral factors of the nonspecific defence and between the indices of the cell reactivity of the patients before and after the treatment were revealed.

BACKGROUND: Prosthetic rehabilitation with implant-supported prostheses in the atrophic edentulous maxilla often requires a bone augmentation procedure to enable implant placement and integration.
