Pseudophakic Dysphotopsia: Review of Incidence, Cause, and Treatment of Positive and Negative Dysphotopsia.

We reviewed the literature concerning positive dysphotopsia (PD) and negative dysphotopsia (ND) regarding cause, incidence, and clinical and surgical management. In addition, we summarized our surgical experience in managing dysphotopsia. A PubMed review, limited to English language articles, yielded 149 citations; multifocal (diffractive optic) and phakic intraocular lens (IOL) dysphotopsia were excluded. Overall, 39 articles were determined to be relevant for the objectives of this investigation. Regarding PD, 7 articles corroborated that the cause of PD is related primarily to internal refl

Omics Data Discovery Agents: Agent-Supported Retrieval, Reanalysis, and Synthesis of Published Omics Data.

The biomedical literature contains a vast collection of omics studies, yet most published data remain functionally inaccessible for computational reuse. When raw data are deposited in public repositories, essential information for reproducing reported results is dispersed across main text, supplementary files, and code repositories, and in the rarer cases where intermediate data (e.g. protein abundance files) are shared, their location is irregular. Here we present an agentic framework for the agent-supported retrieval, reanalysis, and synthesis of published omics data. The system employs larg

Identification of a Key Hemagglutinin Mutation Mediating Antibody Escape in Influenza A(H1N1)pdm09 Viruses.

BACKGROUND: The H1N1 influenza A virus evades host immunity through continuous antigenic drift, posing a significant challenge to broad-spectrum neutralizing antibody therapies. This study aims to systematically evaluate the neutralizing capacity of the broad-spectrum antibody C12H5 against H1N1 strains from different eras and identify key immune escape mutation sites. METHODS: Three representative H1N1 virus strains from 2009, 2018, and 2023 were selected. An antigen-antibody binding prediction model based on the ESM-2 large language model was constructed by integrating 48,762 GISAID sequenc

Leveraging artificial intelligence to predict non-adherence to pediatric immunization schedules: a systematic review.

UNLABELLED: Immunization is one of the most effective interventions to prevent infectious diseases. Identifying individuals at risk of non-adherence to immunization schedules could enable early interventions to improve coverage. With the increasing availability of large datasets with sociodemographic, medical, and geographic data, artificial intelligence (AI) offers new possibilities for identifying predictive patterns. We performed a systematic literature review of original studies that used AI to predict immunization non-adherence in children. Searches were conducted in PubMed, Embase, and W

The implications of frailty in older adults with epilepsy.

Older adults constitute a large proportion of people with epilepsy (PWE) due to the changing demographics worldwide and epilepsy's natural history. Aging-related pathophysiological changes lower the tolerance and increase our vulnerability to stressors, which manifests as frailty. Frailty is closely associated with adverse health outcomes. This narrative review examines the interplay between frailty and epilepsy, especially in older adults, emphasizing its clinical implications, including its role in managing PWE. Mechanistically, frailty develops through complex interactions among molecular a

Machine learning and natural language processing for the identification of potential mental disorders among school-age children: a prospective birth cohort study.

BACKGROUND: Early identification of childhood mental health disorders is a critical public health objective. Existing screening approaches, largely dependent on observer reports, are resource-intensive and may overlook subtle internalized symptoms. The analysis of children's linguistic expression presents a scalable and potentially more objective alternative. This study evaluates whether combining natural language processing (NLP) of children's essays with conventional risk factors improves the detection of mental health difficulties in school-age populations, relative to models based on a sin

Thinking about worry: A systematic review and meta-analysis on the assessment of metacognitions in children and adolescents.

BACKGROUND: The metacognitive model of generalized anxiety disorder identifies three forms of metacognition: Positive metacognitive beliefs about worry (POS), negative metacognitive beliefs about worry (NEG), and meta-worry. Though this model was originally developed relying on adult samples, it has since been applied to children and youth in different studies, and results mostly support its validity for this group. As the roles of POS, meta-worry, and age-effects do not appear to be fully clarified for children and adolescents yet, an integration of studies on children and adolescents and the
