We report a case of a 16-year-old boy who was treated for a suspected dental infection with a tooth extraction and amoxicillin therapy. The decedent developed a rash and presented to the emergency department with what was thought to be a possible allergic reaction to amoxicillin despite completion of the antibiotic course. Our aim was to evaluate real-world safety and effectiveness in a 6-month postmarketing surveillance study covering all Japanese patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) who received etanercept during a 2-year period. Chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) is a rare disease in children, accounting for 2-3% of leukemias in this age group. Few studies have reported on efficacy of imatinib in childhood CML.
