OBJECTIVE: Sevoflurane (S) and thiopental sodium (T) are commonly used to produce sedation for routine MRI procedures. PURPOSE: This study aims to evaluate consecutive cases of recurrent rectal cancer in the pelvic cavity treated with microwave coagulation therapy using real-time navigation by an open magnetic resonance system.
METHODS: Nine recurrent pelvic lesions in 8 patients after curative resection of rectal cancer were treated with real-time magnetic resonance-guided microwave coagulation therapy as a palliative local therapy to reduce tumor volume and/or local pain. Clinical and pathological data were collected retrospectively by reviewing medical records and clinical imaging results.

OBJECTIVES: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of a salvage therapy using transrectal high-intensity focused ultrasonography (HIFU) for locally recurrent prostate cancer after external beam radiotherapy.

Three different dosages (0.25, 0.35, and 0.45 mg/kg) of rectally administered midazolam were compared with each other and with placebo for preanesthetic medication in children undergoing dental extractions. The aim of the study was to assess frequency of various complications of transrectal multifocal biopsy of the prostate (TMBP), to specify prophylactic measures against such complications. Primary TMBP under US guidance was made in 612 patients (mean age 65.8 years, mean level of PSA 12.6 ng/ml). INTRODUCTION: Defecation pain is a common problem with many etiologies implicated. Elucidating a cause requires a thorough medical history, examination and appropriate investigations, which may include endoscopy, barium enema, examination under anesthesia and magnetic resonance imaging or computed tomography. BACKGROUND: Circumferential mucosectomy with stapled proctopexy (CMSP) was first introduced in 1993 as a less painful and highly effective alternative to traditional operative hemorrhoidectomy.
