A method for the determination of vinyl chloride (VC) and dichloroethenes (DCE) in gas samples is presented. The analytes are preconcentrated from a gas-volume of up to 20 l on an adsorption tube filled with 1.0 g of a carbon molecular sieve at a flow rate of 80 l/h and are subsequently desorbed with carbon disulfide. The stability of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) in whole blood during storage was investigated. Two types of containers were used: plastic tubes (polystyrene) and glass vials. Freshly drawn blood was spiked with 10 pmol THC/mL and stored for four days at room temperature (20 degrees to 25 degrees C). The material was kept for four weeks at -20 degrees C. The regulation of amino acid chemotaxis by nitrogen was investigated in the gram-negative bacterium Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The quantitative capillary tube technique was used to measure chemotactic responses of bacteria to spatial gradients of amino acids and other attractants. Human blood lymphocytes from donors sensitized by skin grafting were inhibited in their migration from capillary tubes by antigens from the skin graft donor. Lymphocytes from non-sensitized human subjects showed no or a very slight inhibition with similar antigens. Psoriasis is characterized by hyperproliferative keratinocytes, dilated capillaries and leukocyte infiltration. 2-Methoxyestradiol (2-ME) has shown significant inhibition on proliferation, angiogenesis and inflammation. To evaluate the anti-psoriatic potential of 2-ME, psoriasis-like dermatitis was induced by topical application of imiquimod (IMQ) on the dorsal skin of C57BL/6 mice for seven consecutive days, followed by treatment of vehicle or 2-ME ointment from Day 4 on.
