[Changes of duodenal biochemical content in the early duodenal recurrent hemorrhage].

The dynamics of the indices changes concerning the general protein, urea and glucose content was investigated in 32 mongrel dogs while modelling the hemorrhage from duodenum and its early recurrence. There was established that the urea content and somewhat the general protein content reflect most accurately the hazard of the early recurrent hemorrhage occurrence.

[The diagnosis of chronic duodenal obstruction combined with duodenal peptic ulcer].

AIM: The study of clinical manifestations of chronic duodenal ileus (CDI) and potential of specific methods of CDI diagnosis in its combination with duodenal ulcer (DU). MATERIALS AND METHODS: Assessment of acid-producing gastric function, duodenogastric reflux, manometry of the upper gastrointestinal tract, fibrogastroduodenoscopy, ultrasonic and x-ray investigations were made in 1140 patients with chronic DU. RESULTS: 29.2% of the examinees were found to have CDI. Specific features of CDI course are described. The diagnostic criteria are defined. Higher informative value of the diagnostic

[Significance of duodenal stasis in the etiology of recurrent hemorrhage in duodenal ulcer].

In 92 patients the influence of duodenostasis on possibility of occurrence of rehemorrhage from duodenal ulcer was studied. It was established that the heightened risk of rehemorrhage is promoted by disorders of motility, blood flow and acid production.

Eosinophilic Duodenitis and Jejunitis with Ascites and Peripheral Eosinophilia: A Diagnostic Challenge-Case Report.

Background: Eosinophilic jejuno-duodenitis is a rare inflammatory disorder characterized by eosinophilic infiltration of the gastrointestinal tract, with highly variable clinical presentations. Mucosal eosinophilic duodenitis and jejunitis associated with ascites is uncommon and may mimic inflammatory or neoplastic conditions. Case Presentation: A 26-year-old male presented with persistent left-sided abdominal pain without bowel habit changes. Laboratory investigations revealed only slight inflammatory syndrome and peripheral eosinophilia. Contrast-enhanced abdominopelvic computed tomography d…

Severe Disease Activity May Predispose Patients to Post-colectomy Duodenitis Associated with Ulcerative Colitis.

Objective Diffuse mucosal inflammation in the duodenum, distinct from peptic ulcer disease, has been repeatedly reported in patients with ulcerative colitis (UC). The pathogenesis of this complication remains uncertain; however, colectomy for medically refractory UC appears to trigger duodenitis. Cases in which colectomy was performed for UC were analyzed to characterize UC-related duodenitis after colectomy. Methods A retrospective case-control study of UC-related duodenitis that developed after colectomy in medically refractory UC between January 2011 and June 2020 was conducted. UC-related …

Diagnostic Delay in Patients with Eosinophilic Gastritis and/or Duodenitis: A Population-Based Study.

BACKGROUND: Eosinophilic gastritis and/or eosinophilic duodenitis (EG/EoD) is characterized by persistent symptoms and elevated eosinophils in the gastrointestinal tract. Limited disease awareness and lack of diagnostic guidelines suggest that patients may remain undiagnosed or endure diagnostic delay. OBJECTIVE: To characterize the path to diagnosis for patients with EG/EoD in a representative population. METHODS: In this observational cohort study, 4108 eligible patients diagnosed with EG/EoD between 2008 and 2018 were identified in an administrative claims database in the United States. P…

Lymphocytic duodenitis or microscopic enteritis and gluten-related conditions: what needs to be explored?

Microscopic enteritis (ME) is characterized by abnormal infiltration of intraepithelial lymphocytes in intestinal mucosa. It was described as duodenal lymphocytosis or lymphocytic duodenitis until the dedicated Consensus Conference of 2015. ME represents a common feature of several gluten-mediated and non-gluten related diseases; therefore, it is an umbrella term embracing several conditions. The most frequent causes of ME are gluten-related disorders (celiac disease, non-celiac gluten sensitivity, wheat allergy), Helicobacter pylori infection and drug-related damages. Less frequently, ME may …
