This systematic review and meta-analysis compares hysteroscopic morcellation with electrosurgical resection to treat uterine cavitary lesions. Although many therapeutic options exist for acne, relapse often occurs after treatment is stopped. Some preliminary evidence suggests that selective electrothermolysis of the sebaceous glands may represent a novel therapeutic intervention. This trial was conducted to evaluate the efficacy and tolerability of selective sebaceous gland electrothermolysis for the treatment of facial acne. Twelve patients with facial acne were enrolled, all of whom underwent three sessions of therapy. During each session, a 1.5-mm long needle with 0.45-mm of base insulation was inserted into pores of acne lesions.

Transurethral electrovaporization of the prostate (TVP) is a new minimally invasive procedure for treatment of enlargement of prostate. Between April 1996 and September 1997, TVP was carried out in 109 cases with symptoms of lower urinary tract obstruction. A Stortz spike electrode and a Stortz vapor cutting electrode were used for vaporization electrodes. Efficacy parameters evaluated included International Prostate Symptom Score, peak uroflow and postvoid residual volume. By September 1997, 32 cases (spike electrode) and 33 cases (vapor cutting electrode) could be followed up and evaluated.

A new method was developed to access the uterine cavity in women in whom cervical stenosis precludes hysteroscopic surgery. Thirty-three women with intractable uterine bleeding were chosen to undergo either hysteroscopic myometrial resection or myomectomy. All of them had cervical stenosis that would, in the authors' opinion, not permit safe dilatation to 9 mm, the minimum diameter necessary to introduce a gynecologic resectoscope. We herein report on 304 consecutive cases of bladder stones treated by electrohydraulic lithotripsy. The special armamentarium is described. The average age for male patients was 68.5 years, the oldest being 102 years, and for female patients it was 63.9 years. Of the patients 38.5 per cent were high risk.
