We investigated steady-state movement-related cortical potentials elicited by fast repetitive movements (1/sec) with 50-channel EEG. The experimental design comprised a comparison (a) between unilateral movements of the digits and the toes and (b) between metronome-paced and self-paced initiation of the movements. We studied motor evoked potential (MEP) elicited by transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) in 37 patients with Parkinson's disease (PD). UNLABELLED: To determine bilirubin-induced neurotoxicity, serial visual evoked potentials (VEPs) of 72 infants with neonatal hyperbilirubinaemia and 22 controls were evaluated and compared in four sessions for 8 weeks after birth. Brainstem auditory evoked potentials (BAEPs) and middle-latency auditory evoked potentials (MLAEPs) have been recorded in 67 patients who had a stroke in well-defined territories of the vertebral and basilar arteries. To explore the controversial "brainstem theory" of spasmodic torticollis, eight consecutively referred patients were examined. Three independent examinations were conducted on the same day: a videofluoroscopic barium swallowing examination, an instrumental speech examination, and a brainstem auditory-evoked potential (BAEP) analysis. Swallowing was normal in two patients; speech physiology, in five; and BAEPs, in all. Normal BAEPs refute the brainstem theory, while abnormalities of speech and swallowing temper this conclusion. Several alternative explanations are proposed.

The influence of the inhalational anesthetics halothane, enflurane, and isoflurane on motor evoked potentials was studied in a total of 10 rabbits.
