BACKGROUND: Family-based treatment is an efficacious outpatient intervention for medically stable adolescents with anorexia nervosa. Previous research suggests family-based treatment may be more effective for some families when parents and adolescents attend separate therapy sessions compared to conjoint sessions. Our service developed a novel separated model of family-based treatment, parent-focused treatment, and is undertaking a randomised controlled trial to compare parent-focused treatment to conjoint family-based treatment.

Autosomal dominant osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) is a heterogeneous group of disorders. Molecular haplotypes associated with the pro alpha 2(I) gene of human type I procollagen were used for genetic linkage studies in a group of 10 families with OI. We screened 11 families from different regions of Italy by direct sequencing of exon 17 of the APP gene. Two unrelated families carried the APP717 mutation segregating with the disease. Studies suggest that affluence poses a risk for adolescents, but this has rarely been studied outside the United States. We examined the unique and additive roles of family and school affluence for adolescent outcomes among 10th-grade students (n = 7,203) in Oslo, Norway. BACKGROUND: Psychosocial issues and interventions play a very important role in the aetiology, course and prognosis of several child psychiatric disorders. Psychosocial problems in a child and adolescent psychiatric clinic population in Nigeria were documented as a preliminary step towards the planning and development of this new facility.
