Etofibrate is a hypolipemic drug belonging to the fibrate class. By improving the lipid profile, these drugs often exert a favorable influence on hemostatic risk factors of ischemic heart disease. We present a pilot study on the influence of etofibrate on lipids and lipoproteins in serum, as well as on factor VII and fibrinogen. Venous thrombosis is often asymptomatic in patients in whom major pulmonary embolism develops. When used expectantly, iodine 125-labeled fibrinogen scanning is a very sensitive method for detecting subclinical leg vein thrombi. Fibrinogen plays an important role in tumor progression. Here, we explored the role of fibrinogen in gallbladder cancer (GBC) metastasis. The plasma fibrinogen level in M1 GBC patients was higher than in M0 GBC patients, indicating that fibrinogen may participate in GBC metastasis.
