Goldfish retinae deprived of their target by tectal ablation showed characteristics of regeneration, such as sprouting activity in culture and changes in protein synthesis. These features resemble changes occurring in regenerating retinae of optic nerves which were subjected only to crush injury. Retinae of tectal ablated nerves maintained their ability to sprout in culture longer than retinae of crushed-injured optic nerves. Mercury methylation and partitioning between sediment, water and fish were studied in river sediment spiked with mercuric chloride at levels of 1, 5 and 10 ppm as Hg. Endocannabinoids are well established as inhibitors of chemical synaptic transmission via presynaptic activation of the cannabinoid type 1 receptor (CB1R). In this study, we established a murine cell line that expresses ginbuna crucian carp (ginbuna) CD4-2 and used it to develop an anti-CD4-2 monoclonal antibody (mAb). An established mAb, named D5, showed good reactivities to BALB/c 3T3 cells expressing CD4-2 and a lymphocyte population in the ginbuna leukocytes.
