AIM: The present study examined retrospectively the clinical and radiographic characteristics of pyogenic granuloma (PG), peripheral giant cell granuloma (PGCG) and peripheral ossifying fibroma (POF), located in the gingiva and alveolar ridge.
METHODS: Biopsy records of the Stomatology Service of São Lucas Hospital-PUCRS were reviewed between 1980 and 2006. The medical charts of patients with histopathologic diagnosis of PG, PGCG and POF were selected. The data obtained were evaluated by means of descriptive statistics, analysis of variance (ANOVA), and the chi-squared test (chi-squared), con

We present a unique case of cardiac pseudopyogenic granuloma in a 61-year-old man that underwent orthotopic heart transplantation for end-stage ischemic heart disease. The lesion was an incidental pathological finding in the allograft removed for chronic graft vascular disease. This lesion is attributed to the minor trauma of the biopsy in the right side of the heart following cardiac transplantation. The cardiac right side can be considered the venous side of the heart; therefore, we consider the lesion a mimicker of an intravenous pyogenic granuloma. Pseudopyogenic granuloma may represent or

Pyogenic granuloma is a benign vascular lesion that rarely involves the larynx. Known associated factors include trauma, hormonal changes, and laryngopharyngeal reflux, but no prior case has described glottic pyogenic granuloma in association with Helicobacter pylori gastritis. We report a 57-year-old man who presented with progressive dysphonia and was found to have a large hypervascular mass of the right anterior vocal fold causing partial glottic airway obstruction. Excisional biopsy confirmed pyogenic granuloma. Concurrent esophagoscopy with gastroesophageal junction biopsies revealed H. p

Neurofibromatosis Type 1 (NF1) is a genetic disorder characterised by benign tumours and cutaneous lesions, including neurofibromas. This case report describes a boy in his early 10s with NF1 who presented with an oral swelling initially suspected to be a neurofibroma. However, histopathological analysis revealed the lesion to be a solitary pyogenic granuloma. The patient's clinical presentation included multiple café-au-lait spots and neurofibromas, consistent with NF1. MRI of jaws suggested a non-infiltrative benign mass, and excisional biopsy confirmed the diagnosis of pyogenic granuloma, w

The oral cavity is frequently affected by gingival pyogenic granuloma (PG), a benign tumor that is known for its quick growth and tendency to hemorrhage. The clinical presentation, diagnostic procedure, and treatment of a patient with gingival pyogenic granuloma are all detailed in this case study. A female individual aged 25 years in otherwise good condition arrived with a sessile gingival tumor in the anterior mandibular region that was expanding quickly. During dental hygiene procedures, there was intermittent bleeding and discomfort related to the lesion. Based on histology analysis and cl

PURPOSE: To evaluate immunophenotypic profiles of infiltrating cells in surgically excised tissues of chalazion and pyogenic granuloma associated with chalazion.
METHODS: Eighty-two surgical specimens from 74 consecutive patients newly diagnosed with chalazion or chalazion-associated pyogenic granuloma at Tokyo Medical University Hospital between 2016 and 2022 were studied. Sixty specimens were chalazion lesions and 22 specimens were pyogenic granuloma lesions (from 15 men and 7 women, mean age 36.6 ± 14.4 years). All patients were immunocompetent Asian Japanese adults. Specimens were analyze

INTRODUCTION: Pyogenic granuloma is a commonly occurring inflammatory hyperplasia involving skin and mucous membranes. Various modalities of treatment have been used to treat pyogenic granuloma. However, there is an increased risk of intraoperative bleeding and recurrence of pyogenic granuloma following surgical treatment of pyogenic granuloma. Therefore, sclerotherapy has evolved as an effective alternative treatment modality in excellent safety and efficacy.
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to assess the safety and efficacy of 3% polidocanol in liquid form in pyogenic granulom

Pyogenic granuloma (PG) is a granulomatous elevated lesion that occurs on the skin and mucous membranes. We herein report two cases of intra-oral PG that developed during the administration of ramucirumab for gastric cancer. Case 1 involved a 55-year-old man with a 6-mm tumor on the right tongue, and case 2 involved a 67-year-old man with a 5-mm tumor on the upper lip. The imbalance in angiogenesis caused by ramucirumab and the deterioration in the local oral environment were suggested to have caused the PG. Medical and dental collaboration is essential during the administration of ramucirumab

OBJECTIVE: To describe the clinical, radiologic, and histopathologic features of "congenital disseminated pyogenic granuloma" involving various organs with high morbidity related to cerebral hemorrhagic involvement.
STUDY DESIGN: We searched the database of the Vascular Anomalies Center at Boston Children's Hospital from 1999 to 2019 for patients diagnosed as having multiple vascular lesions, visceral vascular tumors, congenital hemangiomatosis, multiple pyogenic granulomas, or multiple vascular lesions without a definite diagnosis. A retrospective review of the medical records, photographs,

Pyogenic granuloma is a 'reactive lesion' in the oral cavity caused due to hormonal imbalance or poor oral hygiene. There are different methods to excise this lesion but most successful is treatment with lasers. Currently, there are different lasers available commercially and are used by clinicians to excise this lesion. In this case report, a 20-year-old female patient reported to the department with a complaint of overgrowth of gingiva on lower canine. It was excised by using neodymium-doped yttrium aluminium garnet laser and the patient was asked for regular follow-up after 1 week and 6 mon

The aim of this article is to present a rare case of a bilateral recurring pyogenic granuloma around dental implants supported by autogenic bone graft. A 55-year-old woman was treated with vertical bone augmentation and dental implants on both sides in the mandible. The patient was followed up for 2 years. Growing granuloma was observed 3 weeks after implants were loaded with splinted porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns. The granulomatous tissue was removed and samples were evaluated histologically and microbiologically with real-time polymerase chain reaction. The pathologic lesion recurred four

Gingival pyogenic granuloma is a relatively common benign form of mucocutaneous lesion. Although surgical excision is considered to be the standard care, several reports have demonstrated a high recurrence rate of the lesion. In this case report a nonsurgical protocol to treat recurring gingival pyogenic granuloma and prevent further recurrence is suggested. The protocol includes strict oral hygiene instructions, scaling, root planing, and maintenance treatment. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report of conservative nonsurgical management of recurrent gingival pyogenic granulom
