BACKGROUND: In our study, we searched for a relation between various prognostic and predictive factors and hemostatic parameters.
METHODS: One hundred women with newly diagnosed breast cancer after surgery were included. Patients did not receive systemic therapy or radiotherapy. The "NovoSeven" drug was used in 25 patients (male - 18, female - 7) operated on the heart and main vessels including with artificial extracorporeal circulation (AEC). BACKGROUND: The occurrence of coronary artery disease (CAD) after heart transplantation may represent an accelerated inflammatory and thrombotic response to coronary vascular endothelial cell injury. Several common mutations involving hemostasis and cellular adhesion proteins have been associated with genetic susceptibility to native coronary heart disease. The clinical setting of heart transplantation provides a unique opportunity to examine the relative contribution of circulating (i.e., recipient) vs local vascular (i.e., donor) hemostatic components to the occurrence of CAD.

OBJECTIVE: To assess a point-of-care instrument for identification of primary hemostatic disorders in dogs.
ANIMALS: 29 healthy dogs and 23 nonanemic dogs with primary hemostatic disorders (thrombocytopenia, n = 6; thrombopathia, 6; von Willebrand disease [vWD], 11).
PROCEDURE: Citrated blood was obtained and closure times (CT) were determined by measuring the time required for occlusion of an aperture by a platelet plug within the point-of-care instrument. Thromboembolism is a serious complication after Fontan operation, which may be caused by alterations of the coagulation system. We therefore investigated pro- and anticoagulant factors in 20 patients aged 4 to 21 years, 4 to 63 months following total cavopulmonary connection. Prostatilen effects on hemostasis were studied in 120 intact and 240 chronic prostatitis rats, 34 patients with chronic prostatitis. Intact rats responded to prostatilen by inhibition of platelet-vascular and coagulation hemostatic mechanisms and activation of fibrinolysis. A 59-year-old chronic drinker (120 g alcohol/day) was hospitalized for sudden increase in abdominal volume found to be caused by a hemoperitonoff resulting from ruptured hepatocellular carcinoma with thrombosis of the portal vein. Emergency arterial embolization with gelatin sponge successfully stopped intraperitoneal bleeding. No surgical treatment could be attempted due the severity of the cirrhosis. Concentrations of some hemostasis system parameters in the total blood stream and in the menstrual fluid were measured in 58 patients of a perimenopausal age suffering from uterine bleedings and myomas. Preoperative hemostatic data were obtained on 42 brain tumor patients and correlated with the subsequent occurrence of venous thrombosis detected with 125I-labeled fibrinogen leg scans.
