We detail a case of a 74-year-old female with a history of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and diabetes mellitus (DM) who initially presented to the Emergency Department (ED) with intractable hiccups after ingesting two whole starfruit (SF) and quickly became critically ill while in the ED. Our patient was admitted and received several rounds of hemodialysis, but efforts proved futile, as the patient expired during her hospital course. INTRODUCTION: Chlorpromazine is a commonly used drug in several medical conditions associated with a wide range of side effects. Few cases of hemostatic disorder have been reported in the literature.
CASE REPORT: A 39-year-old man had previously been diagnosed with a cavernous malformation of the medulla oblongata. Chlorpromazine was started to treat persistent hiccups. Twenty days later, the patient presented hepatitis and a pruritic rash. Haemostasis tests revealed a prolonged partial thromboplastin time associated with isolated decrease of factor VIII level and anti-factor VIII antibodies.

OBJECTIVE: Area postrema syndrome (APS) is a relatively rare symptom of autoimmune glial fibrillary acidic protein astrocytopathy (A-GFAP-A). This study aimed to report the APS in GFAP-immunoglobulin G (GFAP-IgG) positive patients.
METHODS: We retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of APS in GFAP-IgG positive patients and reviewed relevant literature. Moreover, we compared these data with APS patients in aquaporin-4-IgG-positive neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders (AQP4-IgG+ NMOSD).
