Increasing age is an adverse prognostic factor in the treatment of primary bone tumors. There are few published data on treatment of primary bone tumors in adults. INTRODUCTION: Patients with metastatic germ cell tumors undergo therapy including orchiectomy, chemotherapy and residual tumor resection. Even in case of metastatic disease, the treatment is still administered with curative intent. We present a case in which chemotherapy was successfully applied in an emergency setting prior to having histological confirmation of the suspected diagnosis of a germ cell tumor on our intensive care unit (ICU) while the patient was requiring mechanical ventilation, continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) and vasopressor support.

PURPOSE: We describe the results of a risk-adapted, response-based therapeutic approach from the Brazilian GCT-99 study on germ cell tumors.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: From May 1999 to October 2009, 579 participants were enrolled in the Brazilian GCT-99 study. In 2013 there were 94,770 new cancer patients reported in Hungary. Synovial sarcoma accounts for 0.05-0.1% of all cancers and, therefore its incidence is predicted to be 47-94 patients/year in Hungary. The purpose of this retrospective study was to review the role of chemotherapy in the treatment, management and outcome of children diagnosed with clival chordomas. The medical records of six pediatric chordoma patients diagnosed at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles between 1995 and 2005 were reviewed. We report the case of a 31 year old male, with lower urinary tract symptoms. We achieved the diagnosis of an prostate angiosarcoma. The treatment was a retropubic radical prostatectomy and partially resection of bladder neck, followed by chemotherapy with Ifosfamide and Adriamycin. At least 36 months up to surgery the patient is alive and free of symptoms and radiological signs of recurrence.

A variety of medications can adversely affect the kidney. Awareness of these potential nephrotoxic effects is crucial to prevention of serious sequelae. This review discusses renal injury caused by the chemotherapeutic agent ifosfamide, the problem of analgesic nephropathy, and the newly identified complication of trimethoprim-induced hyperkalemia. In addition, recent information about the classic nephrotoxins (cisplatin, amphotericin B, and aminoglycosides) is presented.

Choriocarcinoma is present in one out of every 40,000 pregnancies. There is a great risk for incidence of the disease in women who become pregnant after 45 years of age. The clinical picture may vary and is related to the destruction of tissue and bleeding. New chemo protocols containing etoposide, cisplatin, ifosfamide, together with a resection of the focus resistant to chemotherapy, lead in most cases to the complete recovery.
