OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to investigate the condylar dimensions of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) with respect to disk displacements and sex by using computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
STUDY DESIGN: Disk displacements were divided into 3 groups based on MRI findings: normal disk position (NR), disk displacement with reduction (DDR), and disk displacement without reduction (DDNR). The authors describe a case report of a 5-year-old foreign girl with a rare bilateral hip dislocation after a car accident. Young surgeons at the emergency department performed an unsuccessful closed reduction. Since the clinical and ultrasound screening of DDH of all newborns in the Slovak Republic is carried out until the age of 4-6 weeks, the treatment of dislocated hips starts early and the late diagnosed dislocations occur rarely. Septic arthritis of the small joints of the hand usually occurs secondary to bacterial inoculation through penetrating injury to the joint, or direct spread of infection from paronychia, felon, or pyogenic flexor tenosynovitis. PURPOSE: Our aim was to identify the incidence and distribution of sesamoid bones plantar to the metatarsophalangeal (MTP) joints in adults, and to evaluate patterns of coincidence among these sesamoid bones.
METHODS: We conducted a retrospective review of 7949 plain radiographs obtained from patients evaluated for foot trauma or symptomology. Simultaneous dorsal dislocation of both interphalangeal joints (IPJs) in one finger is an uncommon injury. This injury usually occurs on the ulnar side of the hand involving ring and little fingers. We report a case of simultaneous dislocation of both IPJs in the middle finger. Closed reduction and splinting with the IPJs in extension provided a good result with full range of motion at the patient's final follow-up.

OBJECTIVE: To study whether Dickkopf (DKK)-1, an inhibitor of wingless (Wnt) signalling, is involved in the fusion of sacroiliac joints.
METHODS: Mice transgenic for tumour necrosis factor (TNFtg mice), which develop bilateral sacroiliitis, were treated with vehicle, anti-TNF antibody or anti-DKK1 antibody. Sacroiliac joints were analysed for histological signs of inflammation, bone erosion, osteoclast formation and ankylosis. Moreover, expression of collagen type X, beta-catenin and DKK-1 was assessed by immunohistochemistry.
