Pembrolizumab, a humanized monoclonal antibody targeting PD-1 (programmed cell death protein 1), is employed for various cancers but can induce immune-related adverse events (irAEs) resembling autoimmune or inflammatory conditions. We present the case of a 44-year-old female with lung cancer treated with pembrolizumab who developed lichen sclerosus (LS). Cases of LS related to immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have been documented, primarily in women. High-potency topical steroids achieve favorable outcomes without immunotherapy discontinuation. Monitoring the development of malignancies is

Lichen planus (LP) is a chronic, inflammatory, autoimmune disease that affects the skin, oral mucosa and genital mucosa. Elafin is an epithelial host-defense protein that is absent in normal skin but highly expressed in inflamed skin keratinocytes. Overexpression of Elafin has been reported in various infective, inflammatory skin disorders, such as cellulitis, psoriasis, Behçet's syndrome, and graft versus host disease. The aim of this case- control study is to map the level of Elafin in LP in order to investigate its role in the pathogenesis of LP. This study included 30 LP patients and 30 he

OBJECTIVES: Vulval lichen planus (VLP) is a chronic inflammatory dermatosis that is often refractory to treatment and results in poor quality of life. The management of recalcitrant disease is not well described in the current literature. Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) has a role in treating oral and cutaneous lichen planus and may be used in VLP based on expert opinion. This review aimed at adding to the limited existing evidence on the role of HCQ for VLP.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: This is a case series of 23 people with VLP treated with HCQ. Outcomes were assessed based on physician global assessme

INTRODUCTION: Lichen planus (LP) is considered a T cell-mediated autoimmune disease although its aetiology remains unknown. Cytotoxic T cells play a central role in the pathogenesis of LP and these cells are known to significantly induce apoptosis in basal keratinocytes.
AIM: To correlate pentraxin 3 (PTX3) with apoptosis in basal cell keratinocytes in LP and to determine whether it is a marker in this disease.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: Inclusion criteria were as follows: (i) providing written consent for participation, (ii) presence of typical clinical findings (livid-red, violaceous, flat-topp

Lichen planus (LP) is a chronic lichenoid inflammatory disorder of the skin, mucosa and of the appendages. LP is classically characterized by the presence of a rich infiltration of inflammatory T cells, which migrate in the upper part of the dermis, arranged in a band-like pattern. Different sub types of the disease have been so far described. Albeit LP is clinically well defined, the disease still represents a therapeutic enigma. Especially with regard to mucosal or scalp affecting LP types, which often present a recalcitrant and treatment unresponsive course, efficacious therapeutic options

OBJECTIVES: To investigate the association between oral lichen planu(OLP) and anxiety.
SUBJECTS AND METHODS: This study included 174 OLP patients and 174 healthy controls. We assessed anxiety by Self-rating Anxiety Scale (SAS) and recorded OLP lesion type and severity. t test and analysis of variance were applied for continuous variants and chi-square test was performed for categorical variants. Multiple linear regression and logistic regression analysis were used for multi-variable analysis.
RESULTS: he SAS score of OLP patients was higher than that of healthy individuals. There was no sign

Lichen sclerosus (LS) is a chronic, inflammatory, mucocutaneous disorder of genital and extragenital skin (1). Simultaneous involvement of the oral mucosa is extremely rare, but it may be the only affected area (2). A 55-year-old woman was referred to the Department of Oral Medicine, School of Dental Medicine University of Zagreb due to whitish lesions on the right ventrolateral part of the tongue and buccal mucosa with desquamative gingivitis (Figure 1, a-c). The lesions were asymptomatic but indurated on palpation. Histology was conclusive for oral lichen sclerosus (OLS). The lesions on ging

INTRODUCTION: Palmoplantar lesions of lichen planus (LP) are uncommon and may not always have classical clinical features of LP. A variety of morphological types has been described in literature.
AIM AND OBJECTIVES: The aim was to study and classify the clinical variants into distinct easily recognisable categories for quick recognition and early treatment initiation.
METHODS: All patients diagnosed with LP over a period of 5 years were evaluated for palmoplantar lesions in our hospital. The clinical and histopathological features of the palmoplantar lesions were then studied.
RESULTS: Out

Lichen planus is a dermatologic chronic inflammatory disease that usually involved the skin and mucosa. Esophageal lichen planus with stricture is rare presentation of this disease. It is usually associated with oral mucosal involvement and commonly presenting in middle-age female. In present case, we describe a 48-year-old woman with history of oral lichen planus who referred to us for progressive dysphagia for solid food .She had not history of other causes of dysphagia. Upper endoscopy revealed a benign stricture located in proximal of esophagus that comparable with lichen planus features.
