A roadmap for organization-wide implementation of evidence-based medicine: an overview of reviews.

AIMS: The aim of this overview is to provide a roadmap for the organization-wide implementation of evidence-based medicine (EBM) by synthesizing evidence across three key implementation process steps: outcome measurement, contextual analysis, and strategy selection. METHODS: A systematic overview of reviews was conducted following an a priori protocol (osf.io/65zn2). Reviews that provided information on EBM implementation, published from 2013 to 2023, were retrieved from MEDLINE (Ovid), Embase (Ovid), and CINAHL (EBSCOhost). An implementation process model, a conceptual framework for organiza

A model for the design and implementation of a participant recruitment registry for clinical studies of older adults.

BACKGROUND: The identification and enlistment of suitable participants into clinical studies is often challenging, requiring a large commitment of time and staff resources. The recruitment and retention of populations typically underrepresented in research present additional challenges to enrollment of sufficient numbers of participants in clinical studies. Inadequate participation may undermine the pace and direction of new treatment discoveries. PURPOSE: Registries of potential research participants are powerful tools to support research by providing a framework to streamline screening and

Cardiac Rehabilitation During the COVID-19 Era: Guidance on Implementing Virtual Care.

Cardiac rehabilitation programs across Canada have suspended in-person services as a result of large-scale physical distancing recommendations designed to flatten the COVID-19 pandemic curve. Virtual cardiac rehabilitation (VCR) offers an alternate mechanism of care delivery, capable of providing similar patient outcomes and safety profiles compared with centre-based programs. To minimize care gaps, all centres should consider developing and implementing a VCR program. The process of this rapid implementation, however, can be daunting. Centres should initially focus on the collation, utilizati

Group approach to prenatal care garners enthusiasm among patients and providers.

Without a marketing plan or fanfare, a group-care model aimed at delivering prenatal care to women with common concerns has gained an established foothold in at least 20 health care settings. Further, the Centering Pregnancy model is now getting new attention from researchers because of the potential benefits it may offer to teen groups and other ethnic populations. See how this self-empowering plan of care works, and why many satisfied patients and providers prefer it over more traditional prenatal care delivery.

Facing the challenge of variation in neuropsychological populations: lessons from biology.

Two ways of dealing with variation in biological populations are discussed. The first is referred to as the natural state model, an approach originated by Aristotle. The second emerged when biologists understood that lawful variation could be ascribed to an entire population of individuals as an organizational unit. This article establishes that the emphasis on single-case studies is driven by assumptions on the nature of variation that conform exactly to the natural state model. By contrast, the alternative case-series approach is consistent with population thinking in modern biology.

Counselor emotional exhaustion and turnover intention in therapeutic communities.

Counselor turnover is a significant problem facing substance abuse treatment agencies. Understanding the role of organizational culture in predicting burnout and turnover intention may yield important information on how to address turnover in treatment organizations. Using data collected from 817 counselors employed in a national sample of 253 therapeutic communities (TCs), structural equation modeling was used to estimate the associations between emotional exhaustion, turnover intention, and three measures of organizational culture: centralized decision making, distributive justice, and proce

Implementing meaningful activity facilitators to prevent hospital-acquired complications in French geriatric short-stay wards: A qualitative analysis of the context and stakeholder representations.

BACKGROUND: Rising hospitalization rates among older inpatients and their complex needs challenge traditional acute care models. Hospital-acquired complications and deconditioning remain major risks, especially when organizational constraints limit meaningful interactions. This qualitative study explored the perceived care needs for older inpatients and acceptability of Meaningful Activity Facilitators (MAFs) to address these needs in acute geriatric wards in France. METHODS: Using a multiple data source approach, we conducted non-participatory field observations and semi-structured interview

Psychosocial work environment and fertility intention among wage workers: a cross-sectional analysis of the general working population in Korea.

South Korea has the lowest total fertility rate globally, and policies focused on economic incentives have failed to reverse this trend. Workplace conditions may influence fertility decisions, yet the role of the work environment remains underexplored. We examined associations between psychosocial working conditions and fertility intention among Korean wage workers. This cross-sectional study used data from the sixth wave of the Korean Work, Sleep, and Health Study (2025), including 1,249 paid employees aged <50 yr. Fertility intention was assessed as a binary outcome. Occupational factors inc

Meeting the challenge of corporate entrepreneurship.

To be competitive, companies must grow innovative new businesses. Corporate entrepreneurship, however, isn't easy. New ventures face innumerable barriers and seldom mesh smoothly with well-established systems, processes, and cultures. Nonetheless, success requires a balance of old and new organizational traits-and unless companies keep those opposing forces in equilibrium, their new businesses will flounder. The authors describe the challenges companies face when they pursue new businesses, as well as the usual problematic responses to those challenges. Such companies, they say, must perform t
