Immune complexes in children with different forms of glomerulonephritis.

The occurrence of circulating immune complexes was tested in 43 children with different forms of glomerulonephritis (GN). The presence of immune complexes was demonstrated in sera of 6 out of 10 patients with GN of hepatitis B etiology, in 6 out of 11 patients with GN of bacterial etiology, and in 3 out of 10 patients with GN of unknown etiology. Immune complexes were not found in sera of 3 patients with Schönlein-Henoch disease, in 6 patients with lipoid nephrosis, and in 3 patients with GN and hepatitis B as a coexisting infection. In a patient with membrane-capillary GN which appeared after

[Functional furosemide loading test. Practical use in children with kidney diseases].

Diuretic and aciduretic reactions were compared in healthy children and children with various renal diseases using furosemide loading test. Diuresis, urinary pH, urinary excretion of titered acids and ammonium, and ammonium coefficient were evaluated in healthy controls, patients with chronic and acute renal insufficiency, convalescents after acute renal insufficiency and acute postinfection glomerulonephritis, patients with chronic pyelonephritis, interstitial nephritis, lipoid nephrosis, hematuric chronic glomerulonephritis, and patients with a solitary kidney. Diuresis, urinary pH, ammonium

5-Methylcytosine Analysis of miRNAs in Minimal Change Disease.

Minimal change disease (MCD) is a glomerular disorder, which is the most common cause of nephrotic syndrome in children. Additionally, the prevalence of MCD in adults has been increasing in recent years. During protein synthesis, noncoding RNAs can be regulated through a variety of modifications, which helps preserve biological diversity and complexity. This study aims to investigate the role of m5C-modified miRNAs in MCD, with the goal of identifying promising biomarkers and therapeutic targets for patients with this condition. Our findings revealed a substantial number of differentially modi

The non-immunosuppressive management of childhood nephrotic syndrome.

Idiopathic nephrotic syndrome (INS) is one of the most common renal diseases found in the paediatric population and is associated with significant complications, including infection and thrombosis. A high proportion of children enter sustained remission before adulthood, and therapy must therefore mitigate the childhood complications, while minimising the long-term risk to health. Here we address the main complications of INS and summarise the available evidence and guidance to aid the clinician in determining the appropriate treatment for children with INS under their care. Additionally, we h

Pathology of minimal change nephropathy and segmental sclerosing glomerular disorders.

Minimal change nephropathy is relatively uncontroversial. This can be defined as the condition associated with the nephrotic syndrome in which glomeruli have no abnormality on light microscopy. Segmental sclerosing glomerular disorders are often called focal segmental glomerulosclerosis, one of the most controversial terms in kidney disease. The tubular opening is the earliest site at which segmental changes appear. These tip changes are not a disease in themselves. The glomerular tip lesion has tip changes in otherwise normal glomeruli. Tip changes in large glomeruli with mesangial increase c
