Nevus lipomatosus cutaneous superficialis (NLCS) is an uncommon benign hamartomatous condition characterized by the presence of mature ectopic adiopocytes in the dermis. Clinically they are classified into two forms. The classical form is characterized by groups of multiple, non-tender, soft, pedunculated, cerebriform, yellowish or skin-colored papules, nodules, or plaques. The other form of NLCS clinically manifests as a solitary dome-shaped or sessile papule. The classical NLCS is mostly reported to involve the pelvic or gluteal region. We report here a case of adult-onset classical NLCS on

The epidermal nevus syndrome is characterized by several developmental anomalies associated with an epidermal nevus. In addition to the skin, other organs commonly affected include the brain, eyes and musculoskeletal system. We report here on a 24-year-old woman with this syndrome who presented with hemifacial hypertrophy, hearing abnormalities, arrhythmia and an unusual infratentorial brain involvement.

A 14-year-old boy had giant confluent brown patches that were bilaterally distributed on his back, chest, and upper arms, and partially covered by dark coarse hairs. A clinical diagnosis of Becker nevus was made and confirmed histopathologically. We report this patient for the rarity of presentation. Different clinical features of Becker nevi, associated findings, differential diagnoses, and treatment options are discussed.

Blue nail dyschromia may represent melanocytic, vascular, or other etiologies. A case of a subungual blue nodule is presented, with a pseudo-clubbed nail. On histopathologic examination, there was a combined subungual blue nevus, with features of a common blue nevus and a pigmented epithelioid melanocytoma. This unusual presentation is reviewed, with a discussion of blue nail dyschromia and subungual blue nevi.

The sebaceous nevus syndrome describes the rare association of a sebaceous nevus with systemic features such as mental retardation, seizures and colobomas (among others). It is thought to be a cutaneous mosaic inherited as a paradominant trait. Three cases are provided illustrating the intraoral manifestations of the syndrome. The first histological comparison of contiguous mucosal and cutaneous lesions is provided. We also describe the possible association of SFM syndrome with a benign fibrous histiocytic lesion of the mandible. This and other mandibular tumors associated with the sebaceous n

Desmoplastic hairless hypopigmented nevus is an extremely rare sclerotic, alopecic, and progressively hypopigmented giant congenital melanocytic nevus, which is histologically characterized by an intense desmoplasia. A significant trend toward spontaneous involution has been described. We report a case of desmoplastic hairless hypopigmented nevus that underwent a progressive depigmentation associated with loss of its woody consistency. The loss of induration appears to be the main marker for the complete regression of these nevi.

PURPOSE: To evaluate the efficacy of an argon laser in the ablation of benign conjunctival pigmented nevi.
DESIGN: Interventional case series.
METHODS: We conducted argon laser ablations for conjunctival pigmented nevus in 30 eyes of 28 patients. Laser ablation was applied directly to the conjunctival pigmented nevus in all patients. All patients were followed up over a period of 12 months.
RESULTS: In all patients, the conjunctival lesions to which the argon laser was applied disappeared almost completely within two days after treatment. No recurrence of lesions was detected in any patient

INTRODUCTION: Authors present the characteristics of a giant congenital pigmented hairy nevus (GCPN) of the skin.
CASE DESCRIPTION: A case of a female patient, 21 years of age, with many changes of the skin, namely: giant congenital pigmented hairy nevi involving the skin of the trunk, the upper and lower extremities and the face is reported. There have not been any changes in regard to the color, size or distribution of the nevi. The family anamnesis is negative. The involvement of the skin is 20% of the total body surface, according to Wallace. Since there was a suspicion of neurocutaneous

Achromic nevus or nevus depigmentosus is a cutaneous abnormality consisting of a hypopigmented macular lesion which can present as circumscribed irregular, oval, or round or as a unilateral band or streak with a blocklike configuration or arranged along one or more Blaschko lines. When it is systematized, it is indistinguishable from hypomelanosis of Ito. Pigmentary anomalies along the lines of Blaschko can be associated with systemic features. For these reasons, 20 children, referred consecutively for evaluation of segmental, linear achromic nevus, were evaluated to define the incidence of as

A 5-day-old male infant with leptomeningeal angiomatosis accompanied by hair follicle nevus and congenital alopecia is reported. Admitted for frequent left hemiconvulsions, he had three small papular lesions around his right eye and ipsilateral alopecia from the frontal to parietal areas. Histopathological examination of the papular lesions revealed crowding of hair follicles. There were no other skin lesions and no ophthalmic abnormalities. Ictal EEG showed a theta burst in the right parietal area. Computed tomography of the brain revealed cerebral atrophy and a slightly high intensity lesion

We describe a case of nevus sebaceus syndrome characterized by a linear sebaceous nevus, extending on the left half of the face from forehead to lower neck, including the auricle; alopecia on the temporoparietal region; generalized hypotonia; insufficiency of eyes in following moving objects and insufficiency in controlling the head; lipodermoid cysts in the left and right eyes; bilateral conjunctival masses; corneal vascularization in the right eye; coloboma of the left eyelid and right optic disc. This is a rare case of a sebaceous nevus occurring concomitantly with optical and central nervo

Odontodysplasia is a rare clinicopathologic condition that has a variety of expressions, including a range of tooth coloration, formation of hypoplastic enamel affecting one or multiple teeth, bizarre radiographic appearance, and delayed eruption of teeth. An unusual case is presented of bilateral regional odontodysplasia associated with a vascular nevus of the face and neck. A review of the etiology with emphasis on the "local circulatory disease" theory is presented.

Nevus sebaceus rarely occurs as part of a syndrome consisting of central nervous system and ophthalmologic abnormalities. We describe a case of nevus sebaceus associated with an epibulbar complex choristoma and colobomas of the optic disc and peripapillary choroid, and review the dermatologic, ophthalmologic, and neurologic literature on the nevus sebaceus syndrome. When associated with other developmental abnormalities, nevus sebaceus and epidermal nevus have erroneously been considered to be a single entity. In this article, we delineate and emphasize the ophthalmologic abnormalities associa

The characteristics of the basal cell naevus syndrome are multiple basal cell naevi and basal cell carcinomas, cysts of the jaws, anomalies of ribs and vertebra, intracranial calcification and striking deformities of the skull, usually with a positive family anamnesis. We will discuss symptomatology, histopathology and therapy. A flemish family, where the syndrome occurs with the mother and her four children, three of whom are admitted in hospital nearly simultaneously with sinusitis maxillaris, are discussed in extenso. Also, the occurrence of the syndrome's stigmata in other members of the f

A mentally retarded female infant had abnormalities of the feet, hemiplegia, and an underlying nevus lipomatosus. To our knowledge, this represents the second reported case of marked folding of the skin; with an underlying nevus lipomatosus; this case demonstrated an association of this cutaneous disorder with multiple defects, including chromosomal abnormalities, which have not been previously reported.

Two cases of smooth muscle hamartoma with Becker's nevus are reported. Clinically and histologically the lesions resemble Becker's nevi with the exception that on histologic examination a hamartomatous proliferation of smooth muscle is prominent.
