A three year prospective study of 30 patients with established rheumatoid arthritis demonstrated that symptoms of depression and anxiety predicted a good outcome whilst externalized hostility predicted a poorer outcome. A multiple regression analysis further showed that patients who denied the emotional significance of their illness faired worse. Psychological variables accounted for 32% of the variance of outcome.

The records of the 3 1/2 year, five times weekly psychoanalysis of a diabetic teenager with recurrent diabetic imbalance were examined using non-experimental single-case design methodology. A selected set of analytic themes was operationalized and independently rated for each week of the psychoanalysis. Pseudoseizures, formerly called hysterical seizures, have become an acknowledged clinical entity in their own right. Diagnosis of pseudoseizures is a complex process, depending primarily on clinical neurologic observation of the spell pattern and negative response to anticonvulsant therapy. Diagnosis is aided by psychiatric evidence of psychopathology, and in difficult cases, by video/EEG observation of actual spells, either spontaneous or induced by saline infusion or hypnosis. Exposure to some model of spell behavior is considered important in the development of most cases of pseudoseizures.

Psychiatric morbidity, relevant symptoms and satisfaction with communication were assessed in patients suffering from malignant lymphoma. OBJECTIVE: We analyze the main determinants of workers' absence due to sickness around the COVID-19 pandemic in Spain with a particular focus on the role of gender.
METHODS: For each quarter, we estimate a logistic regression model to measure sickness absence determinants. We make use of microdata from the Economically Active Population Survey, published quarterly by the National Statistical Office, which identifies workers failing to attend their jobs due to illness for an entire week and includes relevant information about individual and job characteristics.

This study employed secondary data analysis to explore family perceptions of adjustment and social behaviour in older adults (n = 51) with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and their relationship to published norms and patient self-report.
