A 53-year-old man was referred for further examination of left hydronephrosis. He had undergone high anterior resection for sigmoid colon cancer about 2 years previously. Retrograde pyelography demonstrated a filling defect in the middle portion of the left ureter. Brushing cytology of the lesion was class IV. Left nephroureterectomy was performed. Histology indicated metastatic adenocarcinoma from colon cancer.

Lipomas are rare benign tumors in the gastrointestinal system. Within the gastrointestinal system, 65% of the lipomas are located in the colon (sigmoid part of the colon or rectum) and rarely in the stomach and esophagus. Although primary prostatic carcinoma is very common, prostatic metastasis is unusual. We describe a unique example of prostatic metastasis from noncontiguous colon cancer, after presumed curative resection of the primary tumor. Potential mechanisms of metastasis are examined in the context of clinical and histopathologic evidence. A possible role is proposed for early transrectal ultrasound examination in diagnosis of patients with unexplained urologic symptoms after resection of colorectal cancer.

In a large series of patients with carcinoma of the sigmoid colon and rectum there was a delay in diagnosis due to misinterpretation of the physical signs in 36 cases (2.3%). The causes of the misdiagnosis were haemorrhoids, radiological misinterpretation, and chronic inflammatory disease. A miscellaneous variety completed the series. A study of the survival of those patients in whom there was a delay in diagnosis shown that it is most unlikely that it actually affected adversely the prognosis of these patients.

This report is concerned with a twenty-five year old female with endometriosis of the recto-sigmoid-colon. Due to medication intolerance a trial with hormone therapy had to be discontinued. After several years of illness an ileus and ureter-stenosis developed and several operations were necessary to alleviate these conditions. A survey of the frequency and localization of extragenital endometriosis followed by a discussion of pathogenesis, clinic and alternatives of therapy.
