Stakeholder perspectives of an experiential learning program at a children's museum to promote healthy eating and physical activity.

BACKGROUND: Encouraging healthy eating and physical activity in children has long-term benefits for their health and development, however many do not meet the requirements for fruit and vegetable consumption, or physical activity. Experiential learning (EL) has been shown to improve children's healthy eating and physical activity-related knowledge, attitudes, and behaviour. Children's museums provide opportunities for hands-on EL activities that can engage families. This study examined stakeholder perspectives on the perceived feasibility, acceptability, fidelity and impact of an EL health-pro

Household Disinfection Interventions to Prevent Cholera Transmission: Facilitators, Barriers, Training, and Evidence Needs.

There are two common household disinfection interventions to prevent interhousehold transmission of cholera: household spraying, whereby a team disinfects cholera patients' households, and household disinfection kits (HDKs), whereby cleaning materials are provided to cholera patients' family members. Currently, both interventions lack evidence, and international agencies recommend HDK distribution; however, household spraying remains widely implemented. To understand this disconnect, we conducted 14 key informant interviews with international and national responders and a study in Haiti assess

Making waves: Benefits of "Big Science" - mobilising research infrastructures for urban drainage.

Urban drainage (UD) faces major challenges internationally, including climate change, deteriorating infrastructure, and new emerging pollutants. Its innovation capacity is constrained by fragmented national research efforts. Adopting a "Big Science" transnational access (TNA) approach, centred on open, distributed Research Infrastructures (RIs), can accelerate progress by strengthening collaboration, harmonising protocols, and enabling FAIR-aligned, quality-assured data workflows. The Co-UDlabs project demonstrates how transnational access to distributed RIs can mobilise expertise, broaden sta

Accountability Battle: A Critical Analysis of a Charter Renewal Decision.

Charter school policy represents two simultaneous forms of accountability, in which schools are accountable to both parents and authorizers. This study of a K-8 charter renewal decision interrogates these accountability relationships and the role of race and power in privileging the interests of particular stakeholders over others. Using counternarrative methodology and qualitative interviews and observations, we draw on critical race theory and new managerialism to make sense of the competing accounts surrounding a non-renewal process. We find four areas of tension, in which district official

The relationship of productivity-based wages to human rights and occupational justice - an exploratory study.

BACKGROUND: Productivity-based wage systems are intended to enhance the labour market participation of people with disabilities. Limited scholarship exists regarding the impact of such policies in practice. This qualitative study explored stakeholder perspectives on the Australian Supported Wage System (SWS), including perceptions of fairness and equity. METHODS: Document review provided context and background for the study. 14 semi-structured interviews were subsequently conducted with a range of stakeholders with knowledge of the SWS. RESULTS: Four primary themes were identified, related t

No Sensorization without Representation: Co-designing Tailored Sensorization Plans with Nursing Home Leadership, Direct Care Staff, Residents, and Resident Family Members.

OBJECTIVE: : Although interest in using sensors in long-term care (LTC) settings is growing, little guidance exists on how to engage stakeholders in planning. This study aimed to (1) develop a systematic, community-engaged process for co-designing sensorization plans - defining goals and parameters (e.g., data collection, sharing) to support decision making prior to sensor deployment, (2) apply this process with LTC stakeholders, and (3) examine stakeholder perspectives across sensor approaches. METHODS: : We conducted a multi-phase, multi-method study in a single nursing home that included o

Patient and public involvement in the co-design of a multicenter randomized controlled trial on prehabilitation: results from the PREHAB-PEER conceptual phase.

BACKGROUND: Multimodal prehabilitation before colorectal cancer surgery (CRC) aims to enhance patients' physical and psychological resilience before surgery and support postoperative recovery. However, previous prehabilitation trials have reported heterogeneous findings and faced challenges related to intervention complexity, adherence, patient burden, and outcome selection. These limitations highlight the need to involve patients and other stakeholders early in the design of complex prehabilitation trials. METHODS: This mixed-methods conceptual phase was designed to translate patient and sta

Teletherapy to address language disparities in deaf and hard-of-hearing children: study protocol for an inclusive multicentre clinical trial.

INTRODUCTION: Children who are deaf or hard-of-hearing (DHH) are at risk for speech and language delay. Language outcomes are worse in DHH children from lower socioeconomic backgrounds, due in part to disparities in access to specialised speech-language therapy. Teletherapy may help improve access to this specialised care and close this language gap. Inclusion of diverse DHH children in prospective randomised clinical trials has been challenging but is necessary to address disparities and pursue hearing health equity. Stakeholder input regarding decisions on study design elements, including co

Value creation in sport business in the age of AI: a multidimensional framework.

Sport organisations, governments, sponsors, scholars, and athletes routinely appeal to the value of sport, and they almost always mean different things. The cost of this incoherence is no longer theoretical. Artificial intelligence is now a central subject of strategic, governance, and ethical debate in sport, yet the field lacks an integrative framework to assess what AI does to the value sport creates. This paper proposes a multidimensional framework - the Sport Value Architecture - that holds value plurality, capture asymmetry, and legitimacy in a single conceptual structure, and extends it

The Evolution of EBS in Oman: From Planning Stages to Practical Application.

BACKGROUND: Event-based surveillance (EBS) is a complementary method to traditional indicator-based surveillance (IBS) as it provides early warnings of emerging health threats. This paper explores Oman’s experience in planning and implementing an EBS system alongside its existing IBS framework. By incorporating One Health signals and addressing gaps noted during recent outbreaks, Oman’s EBS initiative aims to strengthen national capacity for timelier, multisectoral, and proactive public health responses. METHODS: The EBS system was designed in response to a national needs assessment and extens

Development of an Australian Clinical Practice Guideline on methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA)-assisted Psychotherapy for Post-traumatic Stress Disorder.

INTRODUCTION: Despite recent clinical and research interest, medical use of psychedelics has not been legalised in most jurisdictions. The Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration rescheduled methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) in July 2023 to permit authorised prescribing of MDMA for Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) outside of the clinical trial setting. OBJECTIVE: This manuscript describes the development of the Australian Clinical Practice Guideline on MDMA-assisted psychotherapy (MDMA-AP) for PTSD. METHODS: The Guideline will be developed using the Grading of Recommendations, As

Three nested randomized controlled trials of peer-only or multiple stakeholder group feedback within Delphi surveys during core outcome and information set development.

BACKGROUND: Methods for developing a core outcome or information set require involvement of key stakeholders to prioritise many items and achieve agreement as to the core set. The Delphi technique requires participants to rate the importance of items in sequential questionnaires (or rounds) with feedback provided in each subsequent round such that participants are able to consider the views of others. This study examines the impact of receiving feedback from different stakeholder groups, on the subsequent rating of items and the level of agreement between stakeholders. METHODS: Randomized con
