Rapid sequence scintigraphy was used to study testicular arterial perfusion and venous stasis in 53 patients with varicocele-associated infertility, 17 with idiopathic testicular failure and 9 treated for varicocele. The binding of technetium-99m sulfur colloid to in vivo thrombi was studied in a rat model of deep vein thrombosis. After thrombosis was induced by mechanical traumatization of a right femoral vein segment, technetium-99m sulfur colloid was injected into the peripheral veins of different experimental groups at intervals of 30 min and 1-7 days. A new technique of technetium labeling using stannous pyrophosphate instead of stannous chloride as reducing agent for pertechnetate has been applied to red blood cells and bleomycin. Results are so encouraging that this technique could be extended to other compounds capable of forming stable complexes with reduced technetium. No saline washes of red cells are necessary before or after the addition of pertechnetate. No purification step is performed after labeling of bleomycin.

A 58-year old woman had felt some chest pains on effort for several days. She was admitted to the emergency room with severe and refractory chest pain after exercise. Symptomless dysphagia and swallowing disorders play a very important role in the pathogenesis of aspiration pneumonia. A videofluoroscopic examination and a simple two-step swallowing provocation test (STS-SPT) could be useful for detection of swallowing disorders in elderly patients with stroke, however, there is no report on such a test for detection of symptomless dysphagia.
