We report an incidental finding of pseudoaneurysm in a 10-month-old boy with tetralogy of Fallot and Down syndrome who had undergone placement of a modified Blalock-Taussig shunt at age four months. Computed tomography was a determinant exam for better assessment. The lesion was successfully resected with concomitant complete repair of tetralogy of Fallot in a single-stage. The child was asymptomatic at fourth month follow-up.

Pulmonary alveolar (phospholipo)proteinosis (PAP) is a rare lung disease, predominantly autoimmune in nature. This case report describes a patient with insidious dyspnoea since 5 years and a milky appearance of her bronchoalveolar fluid, leading to the diagnosis of PAP. The onset of symptoms coincided with an exchange of her silicone breast implants. Giant cell reaction in axillary adenopathies pointed towards silicone leakage. Adjuvants, such as silicone, might boost pre-existing antigen reactions of the immune system, potentially leading to autoimmune phenomena.

BACKGROUND: Optimal treatment of intrathoracic hydatid diseases in adults involves complete removal of the cyst with parenchyma-preserving surgery. In current practice, thoracotomy remains the standard surgical approach for pulmonary hydatid cysts, so surgical experience is limited, particularly with regard to video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery (VATS).
