The count density in the right liver lobe is presented as a parameter for the recognition of diffuse parenchymal diseases of the liver by means of static colloidal scanning. Sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy (87-100%) in separating normal from parenchymal damage and cirrhosis are comparable to the results of dynamic sequence scanning. Since this parameter is easy to be measured it is proposed for clinical application.

A subacute toxicity study on 99m Tc stannous glucoheptonate was performed with rats, dogs and rabbits, injected intravenously at ten to 100 times the human dose on a body weight basis. There were no abnormalities in the clinical status of any of the animals. No changes were found in urinalysis, blood chemistry or hematology in the rabbit nor in gross examination, renal histology or bone marrow smears in the rats and rabbits. A new method is described for the intramolecular pinacol coupling of 1,5- and 1,6-dicarbonyl compounds, employing Bu(3)SnH as the stoichiometric reductant. The key steps in this pinacol cyclization are the addition of a tin ketyl to a carbonyl group and a subsequent intramolecular S(H)2 reaction. The authors report on the correlation between the photoluminescence (PL) property and the SnO amount in SnO-ZnO-P2O5 (SZP) glass. The ratio of portal venous to hepatic blood flow was measured in chronic liver diseases by radionuclide angiography with 99mTc-Sn colloid and its clinical value was discussed. The ratio was proportionally decreased to the progression of the diseases (normal 74.5 +/- 7.3%, chronic hepatitis 58.8 +/- 9.2%, compensated liver cirrhosis 29.3 +/- 19.3%). Diffuse lung uptake of Tc-99m tin colloid during liver scanning was found in a patient with heat stroke. Slightly increased splenic uptake was present, but bone marrow uptake was not. A repeat liver scan seven days after the initial scan showed no lung uptake.

Yolk-shell carbon encapsulated tin (Sn@C) eggette-like compounds (SCE) have been synthesized by a facile method. The SCE structures consist of tin cores covered by carbon membrane networks with extra voids between the carbon shell and tin cores. The novel nanoarchitectures exhibit high electrochemical performance in both lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) and sodium-ion batteries (SIBs). Gas chromatography was coupled with microplasma mass spectrometry for selective detection of organotin compounds. The microplasma ion source was a capacitively coupled radiofrequency helium plasma, which was located inside the high vacuum area of the mass spectrometer.
