INTRODUCTION: Up to present, EGF 61*A/G, TGF-β1 -509*T/C and TNF-α -308*A/G gene polymorphisms have been analysed in other cancer entities than hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). We here investigated the frequency of these gene polymorphisms among HCC patients.

To assess the effect of infliximab, an anti-tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-alpha agent, on the carbon tetrachloride (CCl(4))-induced hepatic fibrosis in rats. Rats were randomized into three groups (n=9). The control group received only intraperitoneal (i.p.) olive oil. Our aims were to describe the distribution of alpha-smooth muscle actin (SMA)-containing cells in Dupuytren's tissue in vivo and to determine the effects of selected agents in regulating the expression of SMA in Dupuytren's cells in vitro.
