Body-resonance: transmission line-like wireless links enabling high-speed wearable communication.

Seamless interaction between humans and Artificial Intelligence-empowered, battery-operated, miniaturized devices is reshaping wearable technology by forming an anthropomorphic artificial nervous system that demands high-speed, low-power connectivity. Besides being radiative, radio frequency links suffer absorption losses in non-line-of-sight scenarios and consume more than tens of milliwatts of power. Electro-quasistatic human body communication provides non-radiative links with  ~100X better energy efficiency and  ~30X superior signal confinement over radio wave-based wireless. However, it i

Radiofrequency electromagnetic radiation from Wi-fi and its effects on human health, in particular children and adolescents. Review.

Radiofrequency electromagnetic radiation emitted from Wi-Fi devices is nonionizing radiation. The frequencies used in wireless technology are similar to those applied in mobile telephony. Due to the much lower output power of devices using Wi-Fi compared to mobile phones, the degree of exposure to radiation is also lower. Most of the research on Wi-Fi has been carried out in less favorable or adverse conditions, involving higher power values of devices (peak values instead of average values) and smaller distances of working devices from measuring points. None of the studies conducted so far ha

Microwave radiofrequencies, 5G, 6G, graphene nanomaterials: Technologies used in neurological warfare.

BACKGROUND: Scientific literature, with no conflicts of interest, shows that even below the limits defined by the International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection, microwaves from telecommunication technologies cause numerous health effects: neurological, oxidative stress, carcinogenicity, deoxyribonucleic acid and immune system damage, electro-hypersensitivity. The majority of these biological effects of non-thermal microwave radiation have been known since the 1970s. METHODS: Detailed scientific, political, and military documents were analyzed. Most of the scientific literature

Effects of non-ionizing electromagnetic fields on flora and fauna, Part 3. Exposure standards, public policy, laws, and future directions.

Due to the continuous rising ambient levels of nonionizing electromagnetic fields (EMFs) used in modern societies-primarily from wireless technologies-that have now become a ubiquitous biologically active environmental pollutant, a new vision on how to regulate such exposures for non-human species at the ecosystem level is needed. Government standards adopted for human exposures are examined for applicability to wildlife. Existing environmental laws, such as the National Environmental Policy Act and the Migratory Bird Treaty Act in the U.S. and others used in Canada and throughout Europe, shou

Imaging of the Equine Abdomen Using Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS)-A Resource for the Equine Practitioner.

Wireless ultrasound (US) probes for point of care (POC) evaluation of horses presented for veterinary evaluation of colic have become widely available in recent years. The availability and performance of this technology mean POCUS is readily available to the equine practitioner and the technology is well suited to patient evaluation or serial monitoring in first opinion practice. In human health care and veterinary contexts, it has been suggested that there is a need for practitioners to better appreciate the value of POCUS for assessment of gastrointestinal structure and function. A wireless device for continuous measurement of brain parenchymal resistance tracks glymphatic function in humans.

Glymphatic function in animal models supports the clearance of brain proteins whose mis-aggregation is implicated in neurodegenerative conditions including Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease. The measurement of glymphatic function in the human brain has been elusive due to invasive, bespoke and poorly time-resolved existing technologies. Here we describe a non-invasive multimodal device for the continuous measurement of sleep-active changes in parenchymal resistance in humans using repeated electrical impedance spectroscopy measurements in two separate clinical validation studies. Validation of A Wireless Telemetric Bladder Pressure Monitoring System in Traumatic Thoracic Spinal Cord Injury in Yucatan Minipigs.

Neurogenic lower urinary tract dysfunction (NLUTD) is a major cause of morbidity and reduced quality of life after spinal cord injury (SCI). In pre-clinical research, small and large animal models such as rats, dogs, and minipigs have been used to investigate NLUTD through urodynamic studies (UDS) such as conventional filling cystometry. Although filling cystometry is currently considered the gold standard for bladder monitoring in pre-clinical research, this approach has several well-recognized limitations. The aim of this study was to develop and evaluate the feasibility of an implantable, r

Wireless Powered Microwave-Light Conversion Platform with Dual-Stimulus Nanoresponder Coating for Deep-Seated Photodynamic Therapy.

Traditional external field-assisted therapies, e.g., microwave (MW) therapy and phototherapy, cannot effectively and minimally damage eliminate deep-seated infection, owing to the poor penetrability of light and low reactive oxygen species (ROS) stimulation capability of MW. Herein, an implantable and wireless-powered therapeutic platform (CNT-FeTHQ-TS), in which external MW can be converted into internal light via MW wireless-powered light-emitting chips, is designed to eradicate deep-seated tissue infections by MW-induced deep-seated photodynamic therapy. In application, CNT-FeTHQ-TS is impl

Wireless, battery-free, flexible, miniaturized dosimeters monitor exposure to solar radiation and to light for phototherapy.

Exposure to electromagnetic radiation can have a profound impact on human health. Ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun causes skin cancer. Blue light affects the body's circadian melatonin rhythm. At the same time, electromagnetic radiation in controlled quantities has beneficial use. UV light treats various inflammatory skin conditions, and blue light phototherapy is the standard of care for neonatal jaundice. Although quantitative measurements of exposure in these contexts are important, current systems have limited applicability outside of laboratories because of an unfavorable set of fa

Wireless micro current stimulation--an innovative electrical stimulation method for the treatment of patients with leg and diabetic foot ulcers.

Clinical experience with a new electrical stimulation (ES) technique, the wireless micro current stimulation (WMCS), for the treatment of chronic wounds is described. WMCS transfers the current to any surface wound from a distance, by using oxygen's and nitrogen's ability to exchange electrons. We studied 47 patients with hard-to-heal wounds. Patients with venous, arterial and mixed leg ulcers were predominant; other aetiologies such as diabetic foot lesions, pressure ulcers, vasculitis and pyoderma were also included. WMCS treatment protocol specified treatment twice or thrice per week, for 4

BioShield-12: A 3D-Printed Conformal Chest Shield for Wireless 12-Lead ECG Acquisition.

Reproducible electrode placement remains a critical, unresolved challenge in wearable ECG systems, where manual electrode attachment introduces inter-session positional error that degrades signal morphology and compromises multi-lead representation. Although the 12-lead clinical ECG system is the gold standard, conventional setups are often bulky, wired, and dependent on operator expertise, limiting their use in prehospital or remote care. Recent advancements in wearable and wireless ECG systems have improved mobility and real-time monitoring, but they typically suffer from limited lead covera

Single-atom nanozyme-based wireless microfluidic sensing platform for noninvasive hyperuricemia diagnosis.

Hyperuricemia is characterized by abnormally elevated serum uric acid (UA) levels. Persistent hyperuricemia not only triggers gout but also causes damage to the kidneys and cardiovascular system. Therefore, utilizing non-invasive diagnostic methods for early and continuous monitoring is crucial for preventing disease progression. Herein, we reported a portable wireless electrochemical sensing platform constructed from SA-Pt/rGO/MOF catalysts prepared via photochemical deposition of platinum single atoms (Pt SAs) on reduced graphene oxide/metal-organic framework (rGO/MOF) composites. The design

Inferring transportation mode from smartphone sensors: Evaluating the potential of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

Understanding which transportation modes people use is critical for smart cities and planners to better serve their citizens. We show that using information from pervasive Wi-Fi access points and Bluetooth devices can enhance GPS and geographic information to improve transportation detection on smartphones. Wi-Fi information also improves the identification of transportation mode and helps conserve battery since it is already collected by most mobile phones. Our approach uses a machine learning approach to determine the mode from pre-prepocessed data. This approach yields an overall accuracy o
