BACKGROUND: This paper describes the case of a 57-year- -old woman. During self examination the patient discovered a palpable lesion in the left breast. Mammography and USG revealed a single lesion with suspicion of proliferative aetiology. The consulting surgeon stated two palpable lesions in the left breast. Divergence of standard imaging modalities (RTG, USG) and palpation results convinced the surgeon to qualify the patient for mammoscintigraphy.

PURPOSE: We report the postoperative results of the Artisan Hyperopia phakic intraocular lens (IOL; model 203W; Ophtec, Groningen, The Netherlands).
DESIGN: Prospective, nonrandomized trial.
PARTICIPANTS: Twenty-six eyes of 13 self-selected patients with refractive error ranging from +3.00 to +11.00 diopters (D).
INTERVENTION: Patients with hypermetropia were implanted with the Artisan Hyperopia phakic IOL. Mean follow-up was 22.4 months (range, 3-36 months).

Recurrent spontaneous pneumothorax often requires surgical treatment following variable periods of chest tube therapy. A limited axillary thoracotomy provides sufficient exposure to isolate or excise pulmonary blebs and perform a pleurodesis. Prompt use of this surgical approach in lieu of the initial placement of a thoracostomy tube avoids prolonged hospitalization and a significant failure rate of thoracostomy tubes to resolve this problem.
