We report a case of auditory agnosia in which the initial clinical picture began with generalized auditory agnosia for verbal and non verbal sounds, but rapidly changed to a selective auditory agnosia confined to the perception of non verbal sounds. CT scanning and MRI did not demonstrate cortical or subcortical damage, except for bilateral ventricular enlargement. The patient was submitted to audiological investigations including physical and psychoacoustic studies. Deficits were revealed during the decay and loudness discrimination test, but no temporal auditory acuity deficit was observed.

BACKGROUND: 43 % of people who are diagnosed with COVID-19 will experience persistent symptoms, also known as "long COVID," which lasts past the recovery of the acute infection. Long COVID symptoms overlap with symptoms that the Biosound Therapy System (BTS) has been shown to improve. The BTS is a multimodal treatment that includes biofeedback, vibroacoustic therapy synchronized with music that plays binaural beats, and video content. This study aimed to determine feasibility for a future full-scale Randomized Controlled Trial (RCT) and explore the impact of the BTS on long COVID symptoms.

Vocal fold oscillation patterns in vocal register transitions are still unclarified. The vocal fold oscillations and the open quotient were analyzed with high-speed digital imaging (HSDI) and electroglottography (EGG) in 18 male untrained subjects singing a glissando from modal to the falsetto register. OBJECTIVE: Noise exceeding a certain level can damage outer hair cells and thus cause hearing loss. In the past, noise-induced hearing loss was mainly caused by occupational noise. Leisure-time noise may be a promoting factor, particularly in young adults. The purpose of this study was to investigate whether transient evoked otoacoustic emissions (TEOAE) can be used to evaluate outer hair cell damage in young adults with no history of hearing complaints. The data obtained from the measurement of TEOAE were correlated with the participants' listening habits and exposure to leisure-time noise.
