From 1974 to 1986, a step-cut technique of distal humerus valgus osteotomy using one cortical screw for fixation was used to correct cubitus varus deformity in 11 patients. The results were graded as excellent, eight patients, good, two, and poor, one. The poor result was secondary to persistent varus. The average humeral-elbow-wrist angle in the ten patients with valgus correction roentgenographically measured 9.3 degrees. The average amount of correction was 28.4 degrees. UNLABELLED: AIM OF THE STUDY, METHOD: The advantages of a prophylactic care of fracture-endangered, osseous metastasis of the mammary cancer stand opposite to the perioperative risk and to conservative alternatives. As a pathologic fracture cannot surely be excluded while performing a conservative proceeding, a retrospective trial was set up to compare the results of treatment after a pathologic fracture (n = 35) with those undergoing a prophylactic attendance (n = 44).
RESULTS: The intraoperative, cardio-pulmonary complications were distributed in balance totally amounting to 20.3% (n = 16).

Seventeen patients who had undergone operative treatment for painful nonunion of a surgical neck fracture of the proximal humerus were evaluated an average of 6.3 years (range, 2-11 years) from the time of surgery to determine clinical and radiographic outcome. BACKGROUND: Obesity is a risk factor for worse outcomes in anatomic shoulder arthroplasty. The purpose of this investigation was to determine outcomes of primary reverse shoulder arthroplasty (RSA) in patients with morbid obesity.

BACKGROUND: Cubitus varus is the most common complication of un-treated or mal-treated supracondylar fracture of humerus at elbow. Various osteotomies have been described to correct this deformity but each is associated with its own complications. In this study, focal dome osteotomy for correction of cubitus varus was performed to determine its functional and radiological outcome.

This retrospective study was done to find out the outcome of hemiarthroplasty of the shoulder following comminuted proximal humeral fractures in 20 elderly patients. Their average age was 77.6 years. The average follow-up was 33 months. All patients were reviewed in the outpatient clinic using the Constant Score. The median Constant Score was 47.5. None of the patients had severe pain. From April of 2003 through September of 2006, 70 free anterolateral thigh (ALT) flaps were transferred for reconstructing soft-tissue defects. The overall success rate was 96%.
