The phenomenology of 96 depressive paroxysms in 56 preschool and early school age children suffering from paroxysmal schizophrenia and cyclothymia was studied. The peculiarities of the clinical course and development of stable psychopathlike states formed during slow-progressive schizophrenia stabilization were studied in 111 patients. Clinically they were attributed to a group of pseudopsychopathy and could be regarded as residual states. Two forming mechanisms of pseudopsychopathy corresponding to the course of endogenic process were singled out: the first one was typified as a characterological shift in paroxysmal course of the disease; the second one as an "amalgamated type" in stagnant course of the disease. Long-term sequels of meningococcal infection were examined in 120 patients aged 16 to 73 years within periods of one month to 6 years after the disease. It was found that the meningococcal infection not infrequently left consequences, such as hypertensive (18%) and epileptiform (2%) syndromes, pyramid insufficiency (11%), impairments of the cranial nerves (8%), intellect derangement (12.5%), psychoorganic syndrome (3.3%). Regular dispensary observation and treatment of such patients in the residual period is a socially important task.

Data on the clinical and angiographic examinations of 192 patients with stenoses of the extracranial part of the carotid artery are compared. The state of the intracranial branches of the median cerebral artery was evaluated with the use of Ring-Waddington's grid. Seven neurological syndromes resulting from the pathology of the intracranial branches of the carotid artery system are specified. An examination of 33 patients with internal carotid occlusion showed that this was a group of grave patients who had suffered an ischemic stroke with the lesion localization in the basin of the carotids. In 3 patients with the syndrome of Unverricht-Lundborg's myoclonus-epilepsy electropolygraphic examinations were carried out during night sleep. A substantial disorganization of the sleep was revealed, the degree of which correlated with the gravity of the clinical picture. The therapeutic response to psychotropic drugs was analyzed in 208 patients hospitalized at the Psychiatric Clinic of the Medical Faculty of the Purkinje University (Brno, Czechoslovakia). A subtest ("lineograms") of Mira Lopez's method was used for investigating interhemispheral functional asymmetry in 42 patients with schizophrenia, 102 patient-with various neuroses, and 40 psychically healthy subjects.
