A case of accidental, self-inflicted injury to the hand from a hollow carbon shaft arrow which broke in its midshaft while attempting to shoot the arrow from a compound bow is presented. Basic knowledge of low velocity gunshot wounds and arrow injuries was applied in the treatment of this injury along with a unique management technique. The outcome, including hand function was good without any functional loss.

Transorbital orbitocranial penetrating injuries (TOPI) are relatively rare and can be caused by a variety of unusual objects. Diagnosis of TOPI should be based on a detailed history and evaluation of available investigations as the penetrating injury may be overlooked. In the present case, a child sustained a penetrating injury with the brake handle of a bicycle due to the accidental fall of the bicycle on him and was managed conservatively.

Accidents in the oil industry in the Niger delta region of Nigera raise concerns about safety measures and the management of industrial sites. A total of 32 autopsies were performed after coroners' inquest forms were served on the authors by the State, which serve as consent and request. This 2-year prospective study examined the epidemiology and mortality of 345 patients admitted with burn injuries. Sixty-four percent of all burns were accidental in nature and at least 25% were self-inflicted. The rest were due to assaults or had a doubtful cause. The median age was 22 years. Forty-one percent of the accidents were due to the fall of a homemade kerosene bottle lamp. The main cause was flames, followed by scalds. Naphthalene poisoning is an uncommon poisoning due to its pungent smell, taste, insolubility in water, and poor absorption from the gut. It rarely occurs in suicidal attempts in adults and in accidental ingestion by children. Necrotizing fasciitis is a severe life-threatening infection. The portal of entry is usually a site of disruption of the skin barrier. We report a case of fatal necrotizing fasciitis caused by an accidental toothpick injury--a unique injury mechanism not reported this far to cause necrotizing fasciitis. The aim of this study was to assess the frequency of "décollement," traumatic lesions of subcutaneous soft tissue, among victims fatally injured because of falls from different heights. Wohlfahrtiimonas chitiniclastica are bacteria that cause rare infections, typically associated with the infestation of an open wound with fly larvae. Here, we present a unique case report of the first W. chitiniclastica isolation from a burn wound with accidental myiasis in a 63-year-old homeless man and a literature review focused on human infections caused by these bacteria.
