Hormonal contraceptives are a known but rarely reported cause of photosensitivity. A 35-year-old female developed several episodes of a prurigionous papulovesicular eruption located on sun-exposed areas that resolved without scarring in days. This article describes common cutaneous mycoses in children: mucocutaneous candidiasis, pityriasis versicolor, tinea corporis, tinea pedis, onychomycosis and tinea capitis. Topical therapy is effective in tinea corporis and pedis, pityriasis versicolor and cutaneous candidiasis. It is ineffective in tinea capitis, in immunocompromised children and onychomycosis. Calcipotriol is a synthetic vitamin D analogue. In vitro it can regulate cell differentiation and proliferation and suppress lymphocyte activities. In an open study, 19 infants with a bipolar seborrhoeic rash were treated with ketoconazole 2% in cream once a day and evaluated over 10 days of treatment. At day 10, 78.9% of patients were almost cleared. Percutaneous absorption peaked 1-3 h after topical treatment, and was minimal. No plasma ketoconazole accumulation over the 10-day treatment was detected. Treatment failures corresponded to histologically psoriasiform eruptions and probable atopic dermatitis.

We report the case of a 2 1/2-year-old child who manifested acute anticholinergic toxicity after the applications of a topical calamine-antihistamine lotion. This mechanism of diphenhydramine toxicity is uncommon, with only a few other case reports noted in the literature. This case is also intriguing in that this child had an underlying varicella illness with fever that tended to obscure the picture. This report describes the characteristic history and physical examination pertinent to anticholinergic toxicity, varicella complication considerations, and case management.

Seven infants aged 6 days to 9 months were tested for the use by rubbing of a pomade containing 1 mg trinitrine. The study was interrupted because of high blood passage of trinitrine. The authors emphasize the difficulty of any comparison with the use of this drug in adults. They indicate that there was no clinically appreciable side-effect but they advise to delay, until further studies, the use of this technique, with the only objective of improving the technique of intravenous injections or sampling.
