We describe a 15-year-old boy with an ectodermal dysplasia syndrome (EDS) associated with unilateral adrenal cyst. The EDS combination of aplasia cutis verticis, hypohidrosis, nipple/breast hypoplasia, onychodysplasia, and delayed dental eruption with minor tooth anomalies has not been previously reported as an autosomal dominant trait. The association with adrenal cyst may alert other units to review their experience to determine if such combination is more than a coincidence.

To evaluate the effects of tamoxifen on leiomyomas and ovarian cysts in postmenopausal breast cancer patients, uterine and leiomyoma volumes were monitored sonographically in 17 postmenopausal women receiving postoperative tamoxifen for breast cancer; patients were examined twice with a mean of 1.18 +/- 0.17 years between examinations. The mean increase in leiomyoma volume was 1.26 +/- 0.73 cm3. A 35-year-old woman with a histologically proven T2 N0 M0 adenocarcinoma of the breast was given 4 cycles of neodjuvant chemotherapy then underwent tumourectomy followed by irradiation. Lymph nodes were free from invasion. A 7 cm ovarian cyst developed during follow-up and after a 2 month regimen of lynestrenol, coelioscopy with peritoneal lavage was performed. The pathology diagnosis was papillary cystadenocarcinoma requiring laparotomy which revealed invasion of both ovaries, neoplasic granulations and involvements of the epiloon. Exceresis of the trocar tract also showed tumoural invasion.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the role of ultrasonography in breast cancer screening. 350 Bilateral ultrasound (US) were performed in 350 asymptomatic patients with dense breasts. 7.5, 10 And 13 MHz transducers were used (Esaote Biomedica, Italy). Ectopic breast cancer in the axilla may be misdiagnosed as a lipoma, enlarged lymph node, sebaceous cyst, or as hidradenitis suppurativa. We report a case of ectopic breast cancer and review the literature regarding the pathophysiology, prognosis and treatment of this disease. The case demonstrates how it is imperative that one include cancer in the differential diagnosis when evaluating an axillary mass.

BACKGROUND: Ovarian follicular cyst producing estradiol is a rare cause of isosexual pseudoprecocious puberty. Intense pigmentation of breast papillae, areolae, and labia minora is also rarely reported in the literature.
CASE: We describe a 2(1/2) year old girl presenting with signs of precocious puberty and advanced bone age due to a large follicular cyst. Estradiol and Dehydro-epiandrosterone sulfate (DHEAS) levels were remarkably elevated. Hyperpigmentation was also noted. Salpingoophorectomy resulted in regression of precocity and depigmentation, but DHEAS serum levels remained elevated.
