Ninety-five patients were seen in consultation for previous reactions which their physicians considered as possible contraindications for the use of radiographic contrast media (RCM). Twenty-seven patients received no further studies because of a lack of sufficient indication to do them. The previous incidents in 26 were such that they were not classified as immediate generalized reactions (IGRs). Two of these patients had IGRs with repeat RCM (7.7%). Using a perifusion system, we studied the effect of iopanoic acid, an iodinated contrast agent used in oral cholecystography, on the release of cAMP, T3, T4, and rT3 from perifused rat thyroid pieces. Gallbladder duplication is a rare congenital anomaly of the biliary system. There are no specific symptoms for diagnosis. We present the case of a double gallbladder, which was diagnosed preoperatively. A laparoscopic cholecystectomy was performed successfully. We discuss that the preoperative diagnosis of this anomaly is especially important to prevent possible surgical complications and repeated laparotomies.
