The experience of process-based cognitive training in people with Parkinson's disease: a route to transfer to everyday life.

Meta-analyses on cognitive training (CT) for people with Parkinson's Disease (PD) report improvements in global cognition and it is recommended as a treatment for people with PD with mild cognitive impairment. However, few studies have assessed the experience of CT. Therefore, this study explored the experience of process-based CT in people with PD and focused on how participants engaged with and made use of the training in their everyday life. In this study, semi-structured, individual interviews were conducted with 18 people with PD who had completed 6-8 weeks of process-based CT. Reflexive

Juggling Under Controlled Hypoxia as a Multimodal Coordinative and Cognitive Training in Parkinson's Disease-A Narrative Review.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is a heterogeneous clinical syndrome representing the final stage of a complex and long-lasting neurodegenerative process that involves not only dysfunction of the dopaminergic system but also impairments in other neurotransmitter systems. The diversity of the clinical presentation of PD, together with the existence of Parkinsonian syndromes and atypical Parkinsonism-such as multiple system atrophy (MSA), progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP), and dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB)-has important implications for rehabilitation outcomes and underscores the need for individu

The effects of virtual reality training on cognitive function in older adults: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

OBJECTIVES: Virtual reality (VR) has emerged as a promising non-pharmacological approach for supporting cognitive health in older adults. However, the overall magnitude of its effects and the extent to which outcomes vary by cognitive status, intervention duration, and immersion level remain uncertain. METHODS: Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) were searched in Web of Science, PubMed, Scopus, Embase, Cochrane Library, and Wanfang Database from database inception to September 24, 2025, without language restrictions. Eligible studies included older adults receiving VR-based training compared

Cognitive control training as an add-on treatment for late-life depression: A multicenter randomized controlled trial.

BACKGROUND: Late-life depression (LLD) is a prevalent and debilitating condition associated with a poor long-term prognosis and high rates of chronicity. Cognitive control impairments are common in LLD and contribute to symptom persistence, yet they are not sufficiently targeted by standard treatments. We investigated whether adding a brief Cognitive Control Training (CCT) program to treatment as usual (TAU) improved outcomes in older adults with LLD. METHODS: In this multicenter, single blind randomized controlled trial, 90 older adults diagnosed with LLD were randomized to eight sessions of

The more, the merrier? Establishing a dose-response relationship for the effects of cognitive control training on depressive symptomatology.

Objective: Cognitive control impairments are frequently observed after remission from depression. There is evidence to show that cognitive control training (CCT) can reduce such impairments and related risk for recurrent episodes. However, it is currently unclear how many CCT sessions are required for short- and long-term effects. Method: This randomized controlled trial investigates the dose-response relationship of CCT in a sample of individuals with remitted depression (n = 216). Participants were randomly assigned to one of six arms, each receiving a different amount of training sessions (

Multisensory training improves the development of spatial cognition after sight restoration from congenital cataracts.

Spatial cognition and mobility are typically impaired in congenitally blind individuals, as vision usually calibrates space perception by providing the most accurate distal spatial cues. We have previously shown that sight restoration from congenital bilateral cataracts guides the development of more accurate space perception, even when cataract removal occurs years after birth. However, late cataract-treated individuals do not usually reach the performance levels of the typically sighted population. Here, we developed a brief multisensory training that associated audiovisual feedback with bod

Effect of combined neurofeedback and game-based cognitive training on the treatment of ADHD: A randomized controlled study.

Neurofeedback (NF) is referred to as a "possibly efficacious" treatment in the current evidence-based reviews; therefore, more research is needed to determine its effects especially in combination with other treatments. The present study examines the effect of NF and game-based cognitive training on children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). Thirty-two male students with ADHD were assigned to NF (N = 16; Mage=10.20; SD = 1.03) and waiting list control (N = 16; Mage = 10.05; SD = 0.83) in a randomized double-blind trial. The children in the NF group based on quantitative ele
