Nitrogen-Doped Porous Carbon Materials Derived from Graphene Oxide/Melamine Resin Composites for CO2 Adsorption.

CO2 adsorption in porous carbon materials has attracted great interests for alleviating emission of post-combustion CO2. In this work, a novel nitrogen-doped porous carbon material was fabricated by carbonizing the precursor of melamine-resorcinol-formaldehyde resin/graphene oxide (MR/GO) composites with KOH as the activation agent. Detailed characterization results revealed that the fabricated MR(0.25)/GO-500 porous carbon (0.25 represented the amount of GO added in wt.% and 500 denoted activation temperature in °C) had well-defined pore size distribution, high specific surface area (1264 m2·

In situ surface modification on dental composite resin using 2-methacryloyloxyethyl phosphorylcholine polymer for controlling plaque formation.

Composite resins (CRs) are widely used as dental restorative materials for caries treatment. They cause problems of secondary caries since Streptococcus mutans stays in the dental plaque, which the surface exists and produces acidic compounds during metabolism. The dental plaque depositions are induced by the protein adsorption on the surface. Therefore, suppression of protein adsorption on the surface of the CRs is important for inhibiting the formation of plaque and secondary caries. In this study we developed a surface treatment to provide an antibiofouling nature to the CRs by chemical rea…

Masking of Enamel Fluorosis Discolorations and Tooth Misalignment With a Combination of At-Home Whitening, Resin Infiltration, and Direct Composite Restorations.

This clinical report illustrates a conservative technique to mask enamel discolorations in maxillary anterior teeth caused by hypomineralization associated with enamel fluorosis and subsequent direct resin composite to improve the anterior esthetics. The treatment consisted of at-home whitening with 10% carbamide peroxide gel with potassium nitrate and sodium fluoride in a custom-fitted tray to mask the brown-stained areas, followed by resin infiltration to mask the white spot areas. An existing resin composite restoration in the maxillary right central incisor was subsequently replaced after

Tree resin composition, collection behavior and selective filters shape chemical profiles of tropical bees (Apidae: Meliponini).

The diversity of species is striking, but can be far exceeded by the chemical diversity of compounds collected, produced or used by them. Here, we relate the specificity of plant-consumer interactions to chemical diversity applying a comparative network analysis to both levels. Chemical diversity was explored for interactions between tropical stingless bees and plant resins, which bees collect for nest construction and to deter predators and microbes. Resins also function as an environmental source for terpenes that serve as appeasement allomones and protection against predators when accumulat

Enhancing thermal conductivity and flame resistance of carbon fiber composites using CNT-infused multiphase graphene resins.

Carbon fiber composites (CFC) are distinguished by their remarkable strength-to-weight ratio, rendering them exceptionally suitable for various applications. This study explores replacing the conventional polymer epoxy matrix in CFCs with macropore-infused graphene nanocomposite emulsion thermosets (MINETs) based on easily sourced materials. The explored MINETs are formed from epoxy resin, graphene particles, and different oils as working fluids. This approach allows CFCs to exhibit multifunctional properties, including enhanced thermal conductivity and flame resistance, making them ideal for

Bond strength of resin composite to caries-affected dentin after remineralization by different remineralizing agents: An in vitro study.

BACKGROUND: Following selective caries removal, the efficacy of bonding to the dentin substrate is questionable due to alterations in mineral content and the quality of remaining dentin, especially in deep proximal cavities. OBJECTIVES: The aim of the study was to evaluate the microtensile bond strength of resin composite to artificially demineralized dentin and sound dentin compared to demineralized dentin that underwent different remineralization protocols. Additionally, the study sought to evaluate the effect of the 2 bonding modes (total-etch/self-etch) on the applied remineralizing agent

Influence of Operative Techniques on Clinical and Laboratory Outcomes in Class II Resin-Based Composite Restorations: A Systematic Review.

BACKGROUND Operative technique is a major determinant of the long-term success of Class II resin-based composite restorations. Variations in adhesive strategy, layering approach, matrix system, and curing protocol influence marginal integrity, polymerization stress, postoperative sensitivity, and secondary caries. Because resin-based composite placement is technique-sensitive, synthesizing evidence on how specific operative steps affect outcomes is essential. This systematic review evaluated the influence of operative techniques on the clinical and laboratory performance of Class II resin-base

Influence of high-power light-curing modes on the mechanical and optical properties of no-cap bulk-fill resin composites.

OBJECTIVES: The clinical performance of no-cap bulk-fill resin composites depends strongly on adequate polymerization, which influences both mechanical durability and optical stability. Although contemporary high-power light-curing units (LCUs) provide ultra-fast curing modes, evidence regarding their effects on modern bulk-fill materials remains limited. This in vitro study aimed to evaluate the influence of different polymerization modes of VALO and Bluephase PowerCure on the microhardness and color stability of no-cap bulk-fill resin composites. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Four no-cap bulk-fill

Effect of different 10-Methacryloyloxydecyl Dihydrogen Phosphate concentrations on the shear bond strength between zirconia and composite resin.

BACKGROUND: Zirconia ceramics are widely used in restorative dentistry for their mechanical strength, but their lack of a glassy phase makes them resistant to conventional acid etching. While 10-methacryloyloxydecyl dihydrogen phosphate (10-MDP) is utilized to facilitate chemical bonding, the influence of monomer concentration on molecular coordination at the interface remains unclear. This study evaluated the effect of varying 10-MDP concentrations on shear bond strength (SBS) and investigated the underlying chemical bonding mechanisms. METHODS: Specimens were randomly divided into nine grou
