The effect of hyperthermia on normal and tumor tissue was studied following water bath heating of a methylcholanthrene-induced fibrosarcoma (FSaI) isotransplanted into the feet of C3H mice. The time-temperature relation for the 50% tumor control dose over the temperature range of 41.5--45.5 degrees showed a log linear relationship which followed a biphasically modified Arrhenius plot. The case of a three-year-old girl with fibrosarcoma of the right orbit is presented. She was initially treated with surgery and later with radiotherapy. After an interval of thirty-three years she developed a suprasellar epidermoid cyst and two years later a right frontal meningioma. The two benign tumors fulfill the usual criteria for irradiation induced tumors and the possible role of radiotherapy in their induction is discussed.

During the same year (1984), we have seen 3 cases of meningiomas following radiation therapy of the brain for previously diagnosed tumors. A causal relationship between irradiation and meningioma has been postulated. Nevertheless, the coincidental occurrence in same patient of two different histological lesions is possible. The neoplasms developed after irradiation are of mesenchymal origin; they are fibrosarcomas, osteogenic sarcomas and meningiomas.

Two monoclonal antibodies (KH-1 and KH-2) against a transplanted fibrosarcoma (KMT-17) in WKA rats were produced by fusing a mouse myeloma (P3-X63-Ag8.653) with spleen cells from syngeneic rats hyperimmunized with KMT-17. Primary nodular fasciitis of the nasal cavity is quite rare, and only a few cases have been reported. The patient was a 40-year-old man whose chief complaint was a nasal tumor. We suspected fibrosarcoma and operated. The final diagnosis was nodular fasciitis. There was no recurrence at six months postoperatively. In this report, we describe a case of nodular fasciitis protruding from the anterior nostril and reviewed the literature.

Retropubic tumours without contact to bones or surrounding tissues are extremely rare with only 22 cases being reported in the literature. The majority of tumours described within these reports are osteochondromas in 17 cases, 2 cases of leiomyoma and one case of each fibroma, fibrosarcoma and nodular fasciitis. We now report the case of a 52-year-old-man with a retropubic ganglion cyst, which was resected "in toto" by laparoscopy.

Dedifferentiated chondrosarcomas are highly malignant tumors characterized by conventional low-grade chondrosarcoma with abrupt transition to foci that have dedifferentiated into a higher-grade noncartilaginous more aggressive sarcoma. The dedifferentiated component, an osteosarcoma or fibrosarcoma, determines the prognosis. Its identification is key for management. A diagnosis of dedifferentiated chondrosarcoma should be suggested by the presence of "tumoral dimorphism" with cartilaginous component and aggressive lytic component invading adjacent soft tissues.

Werner's syndrome is an autosomal recessive disease characterized by juvenile cataracts, scleroderma-like skin changes, and a high incidence of neoplasms. A 57-year-old man had Werner's syndrome associated with a fibrosarcoma of the mediastinum and multiple basal cell epitheliomas. In two of these basal cell epitheliomas, since the sclerotic skin made it difficult to assess the extent of the tumor, microscopically controlled excision (Mohs' chemosurgery technique) was employed.

Hodgkin's disease survivors are at an increased risk of developing second malignant neoplasms including secondary bone tumors. Common secondary bone tumors are osteogenic sarcoma and fibrosarcoma. Secondary primitive neuroectodermal tumor is extremely rare in this group. We present below, a rare case of secondary PNET in an 8-year-old child with Hodgkin's disease which developed unusually early outside the radiation portal and discuss potential factors responsible for its causation.

Fibromatosis of the plantar fascia is a much less common occurrence than that of the palmar fascia and it is rarer still in children. It is essential to differentiate this entity from fibrosarcoma. In spite of its high incidence of local recurrence and the histological presence of mitotic figures, conservative resection is the treatment of choice. Recurrence following dermofasciectomy and skin grafting is less common than simple excision of the nodules in the fascia. Amputation should never be the treatment.
