Intra-articular coronal fractures (Hoffas fractures) of distal femur are rare. Although bicondylar involvement in these fractures has been reported in the literature in association with high velocity traumata, the occurrence of these fractures involving extensor mechanism rupture and avulsion of ipsilateral tibial spine is extremely rare. To our acquaintance, such a fracture pattern has not yet been reported in the literature so far. In this article, we report one such case and discuss the importance of early diagnosis and prompt internal fixation in the management of such cases. We believe tha

We report a case of en bloc avulsion fracture of tibial tuberosity and Gerdy's tubercle, which has never been reported. A 14-year-old boy suffered from an acute pain in his left knee during running just before a jump. Simple radiographs showed an avulsion of the tibial tuberosity. On CT scans, the fractured fragment was attached not only to patellar tendon but also to iliotibial band (ITB) via Gerdy's tubercle. MRI evaluation revealed no intra-articular associated pathology. Open reduction and internal fixation with three cannulated screws were performed under lateral parapatellar approach to

BACKGROUND: In the posterior cruciate ligament avulsion fracture, posterior instability cannot be completely restored by the anatomical reduction and fixation of an avulsed fragment.
HYPOTHESIS: The occult midsubstance injury inside the posterior cruciate ligament may affect the residual posterior instability after anatomical reduction and internal fixation of the avulsed fragment.
STUDY DESIGN: Prospective comparative clinical study.
METHODS: Thirty-one patients were followed for a period of 2 to 8 years. Based on magnetic resonance images taken immediately after the injury, these patients

Disruption of the extensor mechanism of the knee joint at the insertion site of the patellar tendon into bone is a somewhat common injury. Avulsion of the patellar ligament associated with fractures of the proximal tibial epiphysis is an extremely rare injury. Only three cases have been published in association with avulsion fracture of the tibial tubercle. We are reporting a case that has previously not been reported to our knowledge: an avulsion of the ligament in a closed fracture of the proximal tibial epiphysis with integrity of the tibial tubercle. We propose a three-type classification

BACKGROUND: Isolated greater tuberosity (GT) fractures account for approximately 20% of proximal humeral fractures and are frequently associated with glenohumeral dislocation and rotator cuff injuries. Displacement exceeding 5 mm is recommended for surgery to prevent subacromial impingement and functional impairment. Current fixation methods, such as cannulated screws, suture anchors, and locking plates, each have limitations, including inadequate stability for comminuted fractures, risk of impingement, and suboptimal anatomical adaptation. This underscores the necessity of a hybrid technique

INTRODUCTION: Total knee replacement in valgus knees is more challenging than in varus knees, which needs meticulous handling and decision-making from the surgical approach to the rehabilitation protocol. In this case, we report an iatrogenic fibula head fracture during total knee replacement for a valgus knee with no concomitant common peroneal nerve palsy. This is the first report of this kind in the literature.
CASE REPORT: We report a case of a 67-year-old male with fixed valgus and flexion deformity of the right knee, who underwent total knee arthroplasty by lateral para-patellar approac

BACKGROUND: The use of adjustable-loop devices (ALDs) has become increasingly common due to the ability to intraoperatively precondition a repair and retension the construct to provide additional stabilization. While ALDs have been supported for anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) repair and reconstruction, a biomechanical rationale for the addition of ALDs for the reduction of tibial eminence avulsion fracture is limited.
PURPOSE: To biomechanically compare standard suture fixation to suture fixation with an ALD for the reduction of tibial eminence avulsion fractures.
STUDY DESIGN: Controlled

BACKGROUND: Tibial tubercle fractures (TTF) are uncommon injuries, comprising <3% of proximal tibial fractures. Rarely, they occur in conjunction with patellar tendon avulsion (PTA). We aimed to compare reoperation rates and short-term postoperative outcomes in patients with TTF versus combined injuries.
METHODS: A retrospective review of patients presenting to a single tertiary pediatric hospital with a TTF who underwent open treatment and fixation of tibial tuberosity fractures was performed. Demographics, operative details, injury patterns, complications, and postoperative milestones were

Penile fracture is a rare clinical entity that occurs secondary to direct trauma to an erect penis, most commonly during sexual intercourse. Specifically, increased pressure within the corpus cavernosa results in rupture of the tunica albuginea. Occasionally, these injuries extend to the urethra and very rarely cause a complete urethral avulsion. Emergent exploration improves post-traumatic erectile function, penile curvature, and prevents painful erections. The traditional approach is a subcoronal circumcising incision to allow for adequate visualization. We present an uncircumcised male with

CASE: A 12-year-old skeletally immature girl presented with 1 year of persistent instability after an open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) for a posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) avulsion fracture. With a period of nonoperative management, her PCL stress radiographic measurements significantly decreased and her posterior tibial slope increased because the primary ORIF effectively led to growth arrest with an early fusion of the posterior tibial physis. At age 13 years when she was skeletally mature, revision PCL and fibular collateral ligament (FCL) reconstructions were performed. Promi

There are a few reports on the treatment of nonunited tibial anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) avulsion fractures. To our knowledge, this is the first report of a case of nonunited tibial ACL avulsion fracture 30 years after injury. A 36-year-old woman injured her knee during a road traffic accident 30 years ago. Since then, she had persistent knee instability that was left untreated. She presented to our clinic because of knee pain she had been experiencing for a week. Radiography and computed tomography revealed tibial ACL avulsion fracture nonunions. Screw fixation with arthroscopy was perfo
