Hand, foot, and mouth disease: a case report.

Hand, foot, and mouth disease is a viral infection related to coxsackieviruses A5, A6, A9, and A10, coxsackieviruses B2 and B5, and echovirus 11. It generally affects children, but this article presents a clinical case of a young woman with hand, foot, and mouth disease. Patients with this disease have oral and skin lesions that may be confused with other diseases. The differential diagnosis is very important because both dental and medical professionals may misdiagnose the disease and sometimes prescribe an inappropriate medication.

A rare dermatologic condition: Insights from three cases of circumscribed acral hypokeratosis.

Circumscribed acral hypokeratosis (CAH) is a rare dermatologic condition primarily affecting acral surfaces, presenting as sharply demarcated, asymptomatic lesions with characteristic histopathological features, notably abrupt hypokeratosis, and variable thinning of the granular cell layer. We report four illustrative cases emphasizing the clinical and histologic variability of CAH. Case presentations have included lesions with clinica

[New guideline and treatment options for hand eczema].

Due to its high prevalence and associated socioeconomic consequences, hand eczema is a burden for those affected and for society. The various hand eczema subtypes must be differentiated from each other through structured anamnesis and diagnostics in order to initiate cause-related preventive measures in addition to symptomatic therapy. There are new developments in the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of hand eczema. The diagnostic possibilities are being expanded through molecular methods. Modern topical and systemic therapies offer promising treatment options for patients with atopic but

Candida parapsilosis of the nail-bed without onychomycosis.

Candida parapsilosis is an emerging fungal pathogen that was once thought to be solely a colonizing organism. C. parapsilosis is increasingly becoming reported as the most common Candida species that causes onychomycosis. Clinical findings include typically severe dystrophy of the nail fold and plate as well as thickening and fragmentation of the plate, particularly in the distal plate. We present a unique case of C. parapsilosis infection of the nail bed without infection of the nail plate and with twenty-nail melanonychia.
