OBJECTIVE: We designed a retrospective study to evaluate the performance and outcomes of a novel iopromide-based paclitaxel-coated balloon for the treatment of chronic total occlusion of femoropopliteal arteries.
METHODS: Patients with femoropopliteal chronic total occlusion (<100 mm) on angiogram were screened from hospital management system and were included in the study. The width and length of the drug-eluting peripheral balloon was chosen to ensure a vessel/balloon ratio of 1: 1 and exceed the lesion by 10 mm on both ends (based on visual estimation).

Coronary angiography (CAG) was performed in the acute period of myocardial infarction in 41 patients using verografin and in 38 patients using omnipack. In a high risk of CAG performance the tolerance of omnipack was better than that of verografin. Omnipack causes allergic reactions less frequently, disturbs less nitrogen excretory function of the kidneys and myocardial bioelectric activity.

Mitral-aortic intervalvular fibrosa aneurysm is a rare disease whose aetiology remains a matter of debate. Here we present the youngest reported patient with the disease, a 6-month-old boy, without a history of infection, which supports a congenital origin as initially proposed. Multidetector-row CT (MDCT) surpassed echocardiography in delineating the intracardiac anatomical details with high spatial resolution, confirming the important problem-solving role of MDCT in the diagnosis of congenital heart disease.

One hundred and twenty-eight patients underwent discography in our department over a period of 3 years. Eighty-four of them were treated by chemonucleolysis. All the patients were punctured by a postero-lateral approach of the intervertebral disc under fluoroscopy. Although several contraindications to chemonucleolysis are known, in our study, only one case of spondylodiscitis was noted. Overall success rate was 72.6%. Twenty-three patients (27.4%) experienced similar or increased pain after treatment.
