Scalp porocarcinoma and lichen planopilaris.

Porocarcinoma (PC) is a malignant neoplasm arising from the intraepidermal ductal portion of the sweat gland duct. Lichen planopilaris (LPP) is a not so rare variant of cutaneous lichen planus (LP) with a preferential involvement of hair follicles, consisting of a chronic lymphocytic inflammation, leading to cicatricial alopecia. A 42-year-old woman, recently diagnosed with HIV infection, was referred to our clinic because of an alopecic patch of 6 years' duration. In the upper region of the alopecia a 1.5cm nodule was noticed, which the patient stated had started growing soon after the appear

Dermatoscopic features of lichen nitidus.

Dermatoscopy is a noninvasive, painless, and easily repeatable technique that reveals interesting and characteristic features associated with various cutaneous conditions. Lichen nitidus is a rare dermatosis of childhood. We describe the dermatoscopic features in 8 cases of lichen nitidus, which can aid noninvasive diagnosis. The report serves to emphasize the need for examining these lesions using both polarized and nonpolarized modes.

Hyperkeratotic and hypertrophic lichen nitidus.

Lichen nitidus typically presents as shiny pin-head sized papules on the trunk and extremities, often affecting children and young adults. In this prototypical form, it rarely presents a diagnostic challenge being characterized by distinctive clinical and histopathologic findings. We describe a rare variant of lichen nitidus, which we term "hyperkeratotic and hypertrophic lichen nitidus."

[Immunomorphology of oral lichen planus].

The article is devoted to immunohistochemical study of reticular and erosive forms of oral lichen planus. Morphological examination of the reticular form revealed the increased number of Langerhans cells (CD1a), mast cells (CD25) and T lymphocytes (CD4, CD8, CD16) in the oral epithelium. Activation of these cells leads to the secretion of TNF-α and destruction of basal keratinocytes, which manifests as a focal reduction of intercellular protein expression of E-cadherin. Destruction of basal keratinocytes in a reticular form of oral lichen planus is accompanied by a significant decrease in prol

Oral lichen planus: An overview.

Lichen planus is an immunologically mediated mucocutaneous disease that is triggered by varied etiological agents. The oral lichenoid reaction is considered a variant of the disease that needs to be clearly diagnosed as a separate entity from oral lichen planus and treated. They follow a strict cause-effector relationship, protocols that suggest the differentiation. Lichen planus has varied clinical forms in the oral mucosa and cutaneously that has different prognosis. This condition also arises in association with various other systemic conditions such as hypertension, diabetes mellitus. Ther

Male genital lichen sclerosus.

Male genital lichen sclerosus (MGLSc) is a chronic inflammatory skin disease responsible for male sexual dyspareunia and urological morbidity. An afeared complication is squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the penis. The precise etiopathogenesis of MGLSc remains controversial although genetic, autoimmune and infective (such as human papillomavirus (HPV) hepatitis C (HCV), Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) and Borrelia) factors have been implicated: Consideration of all the evidence suggests that chronic exposure of susceptible epithelium to urinary occlusion by the foreskin seems the most likely pathomech

Extragenital bullous lichen sclerosus.

Lichen sclerosus (LS) is a chronic, inflammatory dermatosis that is characterized by pruritic, white, atrophic plaques that classically affect the anogenital region of postmenopausal women. Extragenital involvement also may occur with several reported morphologic variants. Extragenital bullous LS is a rare variant, which presents as flaccid bullae that favor the trunk and proximal aspects of the extremities. The treatment of extragenital bullous LS is similar to that of genital LS. However, extragenital LS is often less responsive and may present a therapeutic challenge. We describe a 65-year-

Case for diagnosis. Lichen Planus.

Graham-Little-Piccardi-Lassueur Syndrome is a rare form of Lichen Planus, characterized by the presence of the triad: non-scarring hair loss in the inguinal and axillary regions and follicular spinous or disseminated acuminate papules; typical, cutaneous or mucous LP; and scarring alopecia of the scalp with or without atrophy. These features do not have to be present simultaneously.

[Superimposed lichen planus pigmentosus].

Lichen planus pigmentosus is an uncommon variant of lichen planus that is characterized by the insidious onset of dark brown macules in sun-exposed areas and flexural folds. Superimposed linear lichen planus is an exceedingly rare disorder, but it has been found in both lichen planopilaris and lichen planus types. A 39-year-old woman is presented showing a segmental and linear lichen planus associated with non-segmental lesions meeting all criteria for the diagnosis of superimposed linear planus pigmentosus. The segmental lesions were always more pronounced.
